NEF, TM AND BSN SIGN STRATEGIC COLLABORATION AGREEMENT GEARED
TOWARDS INCREASING THE VALUE OF LOCAL CONTENT INDUSTRY
The Malaysian Association of Bumiputera ICT Industry & Entrepreneurs (NEF), Telekom
Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) today signed a Collaboration
Agreement (CA) towards working together in facilitating local new media and digital
content and applications companies to obtain fund and bring their content ideas and
projects to market.
The CA was signed in the presence of Deputy Minister of Ministry of Information,
Communications and Culture, YB Dato' Joseph Salang. Signing on behalf of their
respective companies were Ashran Dato’ Ghazi, President of NEF, Dato’ Sri
Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM and Datuk Adinan
Maning, GM and CEO of BSN.
“This collaboration is one of the few in Malaysia where it connects a complete eco-
system of platform, content and funding for the creative industry. We strongly believe
that this will further catalyze the growth of this industry,” said Ashran Dato’ Ghazi.
Under the collaboration, NEF will help to streamline and filter quality and reputable
content producers; while TM will further market the identified content and applications
via their online marketplace such as content service delivery platform (CSDP) and
Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) offering; whilst enabling BSN to have further confidence in
assisting eligible content producers and content projects under their “Creative Industry
Loan” based on standard Terms & Conditions with the involvement of the other two
parties.
This tripartite ecosystem is geared towards increasing the value of local digital content
and application industry by encouraging more local-based companies to reap the benefit
of the digital content market share as well as bringing these local companies into
international scene.
According to Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani, this collaboration is very strategic where digital
content and application companies with their innovative content and applications could
benefit from TM's platforms such as CDSP and IPTV service, HyppTV in bringing their
content out to the market.

“We are confident that this strategic collaboration will bring enormous benefits to digital
content and application companies. With our High Speed Broadband (HSBB) Service,
Unifi celebrating its 1st anniversary this week, the collaboration will springboard more
companies or even individuals in developing innovative digital content and applications
that are to be consumed and delivered by the TM’s high speed pipe that we have built
through our HSBB development. This initiative will further spur the content and new
media industry locally. Clearly, while this is in line with the government’s aspiration in
nurturing the local content creative industry within the Economic Transformation Project
(ETP), as outlined under Communications Content and Infrastructure (CCI), it directly
supports TM’s aspiration especially in reaping new emerging benefits from the new
media as new business area.”
“TM, as the premier HSBB service provider in Malaysia, together with the Government
and in collaboration with industry players as well as MDeC, have been working to create
a content service delivery platform (CSDP) to help grow local creative content industry.
Coupled with the interested parties to procure the content and applications within CSDP,
it creates a sustainable digital market place for content producers and buyers to meet
and transact. This symbiotic business relationship can naturally be extended globally
where international content buyers will benefit from the platform in procuring innovative
content and applications created by Malaysians,” Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani elaborated.
The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the NEF-AWANI ICT Awards 2010
and a two-day conference and ICT Fair showcasing the best of Malaysian ICT solutions
and creative content and production held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
