• The mobile app promo web page is the
 “hub” for all information related to your
 App. It should be mobile-optimized and
 include the following:
  – Call-to-actions and links to your App in all the
    different app stores (Apple, Google Play, etc.)
  – QR codes and short links for quick access
  – Description of your event
  – Bullet-point List of key app features
  – Photo gallery with screenshots
  – Relevant links (e.g. Support URL)
  – Social media share buttons to spread the love

Your Event’s Website


• There is no better place to promote your mobile app than on your
  event’s website since this is where you will be getting the most
  traffic leading up to your event.


• Make sure you feature your mobile app prominently across your
  website (e.g. banner on homepage, links in header and
  footer, blog, etc.). Include clear call-to-actions and link to the app
  promo page.


• Today, at least 12% of web traffic* comes from a mobile device. Make
  it easy for mobile visitors to download your app by embedding a
  piece of device-detection code in your site’s HTML that will prompt
  mobile users to download your app.

Facebook


• Promote the app to your Facebook
 community by posting status
 updates linking to the app promo
 page.

• Facebook represents a great
 opportunity to not only
 promote, but to engage with your
 fans about the mobile app.
  – Show off the app’s features by
    sharing content from the app to
    Facebook (e.g. SouvenirCam)
  – Ask them questions, get their
    comments, and incorporate their
    feedback into next year’s version!

    – Leverage the cover image to

      your page’s thumbnail image.
    – Include a link to the mobile app
      promo page in the “About”
      section.

• Promote the app on Twitter by
 regularly posting tweets linking

    perfect for Twitter’s 140 character
    limit on tweets.
  – Include relevant #hashtags
    (event, type, city) to increase your
    reach.

• Engage with people on Twitter. Ask them questions and feedback
 about the app. Monitor conversations and reach out!

• Promote your app across all your
 offline marketing materials (e.g.
 print program, flyers, posters, etc.)
  – Include QR codes and short links so
    users can easily download your app
    on the spot.
  – Provide easy instructions on how they
    can download the app.

• Market strategically. There is no
 better time for people to download
 the app than when they are waiting
 in line (e.g. for tickets, food, etc.).
  – Hint: tell them they can skip the line by
    buying tickets on the mobile app!

• Running a contest using the SouvenirCam feature is a GREAT
 incentive to drive app downloads, increase app usage, promote your
 event and engage with sponsors who can provide prizing.




 Example: Winona Peach Festival ran a “Commercial Extravaganza” contest requiring
 participants to share photos of their best peach festival smile for a chance to win great prizes
 sponsored by the event’s commercial vendors and exhibitors.

• Create and launch a press
 release to promote your App’s
 launch.
  – Find an interesting “hook” to attract
    readers.
  – Focus on your app’s key features
    and include screenshots of your
    app, QR codes and photos of your
    event.
  – Distribute to local media outlets and
    leverage your professional network.     Example:

• Press releases are a cost-effective
 way to create media buzz, raise
 awareness, drive traffic to your
 app’s promo page, and establish
 credibility.

Other Marketing & Promotion Tips


• Email your fans, sponsors and partners. Include in newsletter.

• Encourage app store ratings and reviews to boost its popularity.
• Get sponsors on board who will help promote your app (we can help
 with this.)
• Create your own free in-app cross-promotion network by reaching
 out to sponsors and partners who also have a mobile app.
• Get staff or volunteers to demo the app live during the event.

• Offer free Wi-Fi at your event so people can download the app even if
 they don’t have internet connection.
• Offer something exclusive in your mobile app as an incentive to
 download (e.g. price discount, drink coupon, contest, video, etc.).
• Create a video to promote your app. Host it on YouTube.

• Run ad campaigns across mobile ad networks (e.g. AdMob), social
 networks (e.g. Facebook) and online (e.g. Google AdWords).

Mobile App Promo Page • The mobile app promo web page is the “hub” for all information related to your App. It should be mobile-optimized and include the following: – Call-to-actions and links to your App in all the different app stores (Apple, Google Play, etc.) – QR codes and short links for quick access – Description of your event – Bullet-point List of key app features – Photo gallery with screenshots – Relevant links (e.g. Support URL) – Social media share buttons to spread the love MyEventApps customers receive a free mobile app promo page including QR codes and short links. 4

Facebook • Promote the app to your Facebook community by posting status updates linking to the app promo page. • Facebook represents a great opportunity to not only promote, but to engage with your fans about the mobile app. – Show off the app’s features by sharing content from the app to Facebook (e.g. SouvenirCam) – Ask them questions, get their comments, and incorporate their feedback into next year’s version! 7
