The Connecticut Food Bank is encouraging home and community gardeners to plant an extra row of produce this spring as part of its "Plant a Row for the Hungry" campaign. The goal is to increase donations of fresh produce to food banks and pantries to help the one in seven Connecticut families affected by hunger. Since 2006, the program has collected thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Gardeners are asked to donate surplus produce to their local food pantry or one of the Connecticut Food Bank's warehouses.
