The record label is the company that manages and coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing and promotion, and enforcement of copyright protection of sound recordings and music videos also conducts talent scouts and development of new artists. It maintains contracts with recording artist and their managers.

4. Def Jam Records/ Island Def Jam Music Group Def Jam Recordings is an American hip pop and R&B record label owned by Universal Music Group. Def Jam was founded by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons. It is now run by L.A. Reid. Artists under Def Jam consists of R&B singers Rihanna, Neyo, Justin Biebre, Mariah Carey and hip pop artists Rick Ross, Kanye West, Young Jeezy and many more. The biggest artists to come out of Def Jam today are Rihanna, Neyo and Kanye West that are international stars.
