2. Why does FSU need victim advocacy?
Why is this important?
• FSU recognizes that the university campus is a
community of its own and crime exists in all
communities
• Crime can happen at any time to anybody
• Victimization can impact a student’s life in various ways
that may not be realized until after the crime occurs.
• Our role is to be supportive, non-judgmental, and to
provide options to survivors of crime. Ultimately, we
want to minimize the impact that crime has on victims
both emotionally and academically.
3. What services does VAP provide?
ALL services are FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, and
DO NOT REQUIRE A POLICE REPORT!

4. Who benefits from services?
• Victims of crime, both men and women, who are FSU
students, employees, those victimized on FSU’s
campus, or those victimized by an FSU student
• Victimizations include sexual assault, sexual
battery, relationship
violence, stalking, harassment, theft, robbery, burglary,
homicide, etc.
• Those who are dealing with a friend, roommate, family
member, significant other, etc. who was victimized
• For students, the crime may have occurred anywhere
(on or off campus) or anytime
5. How to Contact VAP
• Advocates respond 24 hours a day to provide
crisis intervention and appropriate referrals

• Nights, weekends, and holidays, call FSU Police at
(850)644-1234. Ask for the on-call advocate and
provide your phone number; the advocate will
call you back promptly.
