Curious Where You May Work
   As A Medical Assistant?
• After graduating from a
  Medical Assistant training program, you will
  need to decide what type of work
  environment you would like to participate in –
  the following are four options:

   –   Typical Health Care Office
   –   Clinical Medical Office
   –   Podiatric Medical Office
   –   Administrative Medical Office
Typical Health Care Office
• This category is a catch-all for most doctors offices.

• One of your biggest assets to these offices, beyond
  your medical assisting training, is your demeanor.

    – Is your personality bright and cheery?

• In a typical health care office you will be interacting
  with patients, staff, and the doctors and nurses. You
  may be asked to schedule appointments, handle
  office mail, or answer phones.
Clinical Medical Office
• A Clinical Medical Office may require you to give
  medical support in addition to office duties.

• You should be able to easily explain medical
  procedures at a level that a patient can understand.

• Also, being empathetic in nature – comforting patients
  before or after a medical procedure – is an important
  part of the role.
Podiatric Medical Office
• Podiatric Medical Offices deal specifically with
  podiatric diseases and disorders.

• If this is an area you wish to specialize in, you will
  need a good understanding of the related diseases
  and disorders as well as the ability to talk to patients
  about their feet.

• Understanding proper foot hygiene and care habits
  during treatment is also important.
Administrative Medical Office
•   Administrative Medical Offices are similar to typical office
    settings.

     – With healing the sick comes a lot of paperwork and time slots
       to manage.

•   Medical assistants working in administrative medical offices
    will need to become experienced in the process of
    submitting medical claim forms, updating and keeping track
    of patient files, and scheduling tests and appointments.

     – You will be an integral part of the medical system and offer a
       great deal of support in this kind of office.
