Geography can be considered an important binding principle in Internet of Things (IoT) use- and business cases. This is because all physical objects -and the events they create- have a three-dimensional position, dimension, and orientation in space and time, and spatial relationships exist between them. As IT and Geo-IT technology is progressing fast, system integration of spatial technology in the IoT can be realized and should be considered. Applying spatial relationships, functions, and models to the IoT creates new business opportunities to improve the management of smart objects and smart people in smart cities
