This document provides an induction training for accessing and using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called LIVEefc. It covers:
1. The three ways to access LIVEefc - from within college via Sharepoint/EFC Online, a staff pop-up page, or from outside college via a web address.
2. How to navigate to courses within the VLE once logged in.
3. An overview of the different options for adding content and resources within courses, including linking to files/websites, composing pages, and adding activities.
4. Instructions for adding ready-made lessons from the National Learning Network database using IMS Content Packages.

8. Induction Training 1 2 3 Click on your Course OR “All courses” at the bottom of the Block. A view of all Moodle courses will open for you to choose from Click on your course

13. Induction Training Give the resource a name that is clear to the students Always drop down and choose "new window",otherwise when the student closes the document, they close STC Live too. 1 2
14. Induction Training This done, you now have two options You can either Choose or upload a file… OR Create a link to a website 1
15. Induction Training For websites, delete “http://“ and cut and paste in the website's address(highlight, then Ctrl + C, then click here and Ctrl + V) in the Location box. 1

17. Induction Training 1 5 4 Once uploaded, it will appear in your list. You then click “Choose" to put the file into the LIVE efc page Choose "browse" to find a filein your documents. 2 3 Once you have selected it, then "upload" it... When you have clicked on "choose or upload a file", a window opens with all the files for that course. Click on "upload a file" to add to the list...
18. Induction Training Don't forget: "New window". This takes you back to the page where you gave the file a name for LIVEefc. Scroll down and choose “Save and return to course"
19. Induction Training The new resource file or webpage will be the last thing on the list for that unit, but you can reorder the resources using the function
20. Induction Training a b This expands/ contracts all the units so that they are visible or alternatively, stacked (but it is not a change to the page, the same option is available to the students) These icons hide either whole units' contents (a) or individual files/sites (b) within a unit

27. Induction Training Click “Start” to view the lesson (make sure your PC has the volume up) If you've seen enough and you want the lesson, click “Choose"

30. Induction Training Ask for your ILT Champion/eMentorto arrange to have your students e-enrolled on the LIVEefc course, and you are ready to start using the page for support material such as activities in lessons or for homework, for student socialisation, as a revision archive and more...
