Process Engineer
1. Our client has an immediate need for a full time Process Engineer.
In this role you will provide process engineering expertise in support of achieving business results.
This will be an in-plant role supporting the three Ethylene plants.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Troubleshooting:
process data analysis and testing to identify the root cause of plant problems; implement solutions to permanently
address these problems
support the Unit Engineers in troubleshooting plant problems; engineering support to Operations and
Maintenance personnel
Process Improvements / Optimization:
identify and evaluate improvement opportunities as part of an optimization team across three ethylene units;
participate in the development of Key Performance Indicators, Variable Cost Savings opportunities, and tools for
tracking these for the units;
drive / facilitate actions to improve plant performance in the areas of Responsible Care, cost, reliability, and
capacity;
drive / facilitate interaction between units and R&D centre
participate in capital project definition, design, and commissioning;
participate in the identification, planning and execution of major unit turnaround work.
ensure unsafe acts and conditions are addressed through personal interventions and participation in Olefins
safety programs;
participation in incident reviews and completion of follow-up recommendations
working in conjunction with the Team to discover and implement new technology and applications that support the
manufacturing excellence that includes ensuring reliable system performance, Health, Safety and the
Environment and Risk requirements are strictly adhered to.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of three years related engineering experience. Eligibility for
APEGGA certification is a must, with preference for candidates currently registered as a Professional Engineer in
the province of Alberta/Ontario.
Interest and enthusiasm for understanding plant process equipment operation, troubleshooting, design, and
optimization
Ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic
work environment
Demonstrated strong willingness to take initiative and be a self-directed worker
Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present or explain information using a variety of
formal presentation tools and techniques
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, and Technical teams
Ability to promptly identify problems in processes and/or equipment and offer practical solutions in a timely
manner
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office software suite, Aspen Simulation Packages, Aspen Process Explorer, and
SAP would be beneficial
Knowledge of Equation Oriented modeling would be a plus.
