Featured Student: Rubí Marín
In the summer of 2006, Rubí Marín flew to California on a cultural
exchange and lived with a host family. Five years later, she is on her
way back, this time to start her studies at Santa Monica College.
When Rubí decided to pursue her studies in the U.S., she came to
the EducationUSA Advising Center in Mexico City for more informa-
tion, attended a group information session, and started using the
center’s books to research community colleges in California. She
chose The Golden State for its cultural diversity, warm weather and
professional opportunities. During her first individual advising ap-
pointment she received her “favorite resource,” an undergraduate
