JERE SULLIVAN EXECUTIVE VICE-PRESIDENT EUROPE PUBLIC AFFAIRS, BRUSSELS Jere Sullivan has 20 years of experience in government affairs, marketing and public relations in the U.S. and Europe and serves as Vice Chairman of Edelman Europe and general manager of Edelman’s Brussels office. He also serves on the European Executive Committee responsible for mapping out the business strategy for Edelman in Europe. His clients have included such respected organizations as Starbucks, Michelin, Bacardi, Swiss Re, DeBeers, Severstal, Evraz, Taco Bell,, The European Justice Forum, Bunge and international governments including the Korean Investment and Trade Association, government of the U.S. Virgin Islands and the government of Puerto Rico. . He is part of Edelman’s global crisis communications taskforce, counseling clients on how to best prepare for and mange crises involving a wide range of issues from product recalls to government investigations to litigation support. In his capacity as Vice Chairman he provides counsel to key corporate, issues management and public affairs clients throughout Europe. 3. Rebecca Snazell Associate Director, Brussels Rebecca re-joined Edelman’s Brussels office in July 2005, where she oversees pan-European corporate communications, CSR and environmental programmes. Rebecca has considerable experience in developing stakeholder outreach programmes involving trade unions, non-governmental organisations, political decision-makers and the media. She has managed a number of these programmes on a global or pan-European scale for clients such as the European Commission, GE, Chiquita Brands International, BP, Levi Strauss, Procter & Gamble, Nike, Whirlpool and Bunge. Prior to this, Rebecca spent over two years in Edelman’s New York Headquarters where she managed corporate reputation and media relations programmes for clients in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as being involved in a variety of internal training and communications initiatives. Rebecca moved to New York from the firm’s Brussels office where she spent seven years specializing in the strategic development and implementation of CSR, and issues management programmes. Prior to joining Edelman, Rebecca was a political assistant to Bryan Cassidy, a British Member of the European Parliament. During this time, Rebecca was responsible for public and media relations concerning various European, national and regional issues. Rebecca has also worked in the field of molecular engineering for the French Government body, l’Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, and as an ecologist for the UK Government’s Natural Environment Research Council. Rebecca holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Biology with European Studies from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
4. Anne Starkie-Alves Account Director, Public Affairs, Edelman Brussels Anne joined Edelman in March 2003. She is an experienced consultant, having provided strategic advice, representation and lobbying strategies for governments and industries as wide-ranging as manufacturing, publishing and advertising. Anne is best known for her policy work in the areas of media, advertising and marketing, having advised clients including the European Publishers’ Council, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (Europe), British Telecom, Orange and independent television production company Endemol International. Since 2001 she has advised and lobbied directly for the Toy Industries of Europe on legislation related to marketing and communications practices. Much of her work has concerned proposed restrictions on advertising and marketing and children including the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, proposed Sales Promotions Regulation and the Television Without Frontiers Directive. As part of her lobbying work in these areas, Anne managed an interest group of European Deputies and industry stakeholders in the area of commercial communications within the European Parliament. This provided a key forum for discussion and a platform to regularly meet with decision-makers on issues relating to advertising and marketing, leading to a reinvigoration of the commercial communications debate. Much of Anne’s current work involves addressing wider business issues at EU level: she is Secretary of the European Justice Forum (EJF) – a cross-sector industry coalition which she helped to establish that is working to combat the drift towards increased litigation in Europe. In addition, she is vice-Chair of AMCHAM’s Consumer Committee where she deals with and is responsible for communicating AMCHAM’s position on a number of EU consumer policy issues. Anne has a BA (Hons) degree in English and French from the University of Leeds and a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the University of Exeter and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Rennes. In addition, she has worked as an intern at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, in the area of Public Relations, where she coordinated projects for the institution’s 50th anniversary. Following this, she gained a scholarship to work within the Press Section of the European Parliament. She speaks English, French and Portuguese. .

Amaia Betelu Associate Account Director, Brussels Amaia Betelu joined Edelman in July 2005, bringing her experience with EU institutions and expertise in a number of areas to the expanding Public Affairs team. Amaia was previously a Director at Citigate Public Affairs in Brussels. Amaia has worked for a wide range of clients including: the International Association of Airports’ Duty Free Stores (IADDFS) on the impact which the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control would have on their members’ activities, she defined strategies at national, regional and international level to influence WHO’ s Member States; British Heart Foundation (BHF), on the impact of the Regulation on nutrition and health claims on health related charities; and the International Association of Trademarks (INTA) to which she advised on the use of trade marks and brand names in the frame of food labelling. Before beginning her consultancy career, Amaia was a member of the EU’s Economic and Social Committee (ECS) for six years. As a member of Group II (Workers) she contributed to the opinions delivered by the ECS on Commission proposals particularly on health, social and foreign affairs issues. Over the same period (1994-2000), she was also a member of the European Social Fund Committee, and the European Committee responsible for Vocational Training. While a member of the ESC, she was a member of the International Department of ELA, a Basque Trade Union. At the time her tasks included the definition of the union’s international strategy and the development of relations with the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and the World Labour Confederation (WCL) as well as with a wide number of unions notably in Europe and the Americas. Between 1994 and 1998 she was also a member of the Spanish delegation to the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Conference where she was able to further develop her contacts with representatives of different regions, particularly Africa and South America. .
6. Sebastien Faure Associate Account Director, Brussels Sebastien joined Edelman Brussels in July 2007 immediately after having completed his studies in political science and European business. As a member of the public affair team, he is now involved in several projects such as the launching of the NovoNordisk Campaign on diabetes. He also plays a particularly important role as adviser to the Toy Industries of Europe on safety, environment and technical issues. Sebastien is graduated from the ESCP-EAP European School of Management and is particularly interested in financial issues and renewable energies. As a former student in the European programm of the Institut for Political Studies of Lille with working experience in the German institutions, Sebastien has gathered knowledge and experience at european level. Sebastien is French nationality. He is fluent in English and German. In his spare time he is a football player and loves to play guitar.
