2. Theory of Operation
• The paddle is installed through the wall of a
vessel so that it comes in contact with the
bulk media
• An electric motor in the control spins the
paddle. As the media builds up the paddle is
impeded from spinning
• When the paddle stops spinning the motor
then rotates activating the output switch

• The motor then turns off
• When the material no longer impedes the
paddle a spring mechanism reactivates the
motor, and returns the switches to the normal
position
• The paddle then starts spinning again

14. Pneumatic Conveying
• Powder or bulk materials are transported
through the system by pressure. The
material flows from the storage silo to the
receiving bins. The PLS indicates level at
each station.

• Here the PLS is
controlling the inlet
or outlet conveying
system to keep the
silo filled.
