Thousands of students and lecturers marched in London to protest plans to significantly increase university fees in the UK. The proposed fees would make higher education over three times more expensive, with annual costs rising to between six and nine thousand pounds compared to the current fees. Students interviewed in New York said that higher education costs have been increasing globally as well, with better known schools charging more. The fee increases in the UK concern students as it will greatly impact their future planning and ability to pay off student loans.
