- Cerebral Palsy is a movement disorder. CP is also known as ‘static encephalopathy.’ It is caused by brain damage that occurs before, during, or just after birth. A person with CP is often also affected by other conditions caused by brain damage, such as motor skills.
- In the United States, about 2-3 children per 1000 have Cerebral Palsy. As many as 1,000,000 people of all ages are affected, both male and female.
