Jokes
A little girl asked her mother, "How
did the human race begin?"
The mother answered, "God made
Adam and Eve and they had children,
and so all mankind was made."
Two days later the girl asked her fa-
ther the same question, "How did the
human race begin?" The father an-
swered, "Many years ago there were
monkeys from which the human race
evolved.”
The confused girl returned to her
mother and said, "Mom, how is it
possible that you told me the human
race was created by God, and Dad
said they developed from monkeys?"
The mother answered, "Well, dear, it
is very simple. I told you about my
side of the family and your father
told you about his."
To succeed in politics, it is often nec-
essary to rise above your principles.
A woman and a man are involved in
a car accident; it's a bad one. Both of
their cars are totally demolished but
amazingly neither of them are hurt.
After they crawl out of their cars, the
woman says, "So you're a man, that's
interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just
look at our cars! There's nothing left,
but fortunately we are unhurt. This
must be a sign from God that we
should meet and be friends and live
together in peace for the rest of our
days."
Flattered, the man replied, "Oh yes, I
agree with you completely!"
"This must be a sign from God!" The
woman continued, "And look at this,
here's another miracle. My car is
completely demolished but this bottle
of wine didn't break. Surely God
wants us to drink this wine and cele-
brate our good fortune."
Then she hands the bottle to the man,
The man nods his head in agreement,
opens it and drinks half the bottle and
then hands it back to the woman.
The woman takes the bottle, immedi-
ately puts the cap back on, and hands
it back to the man.
The man asks, "Aren't you having
any?"
The woman replies, "No. I think I'll
just wait for the police."
The first little pig went into a bar. He
ordered a hundred drinks, and after
he drank every single one, he needed
to relieve himself. He asked the bar-
tender where the loo was, did his
business and left.
The second little pig came in, or-
dered two hundred drinks, did his
business, then left.
The third and fourth little pig came
in, ordered three and four hundred
drinks respectively, did their busi-
ness, then left.
The fifth little pig came in, ordered
five hundred drinks, and was about to
leave, when the bartender stopped
him and said, "Hey, don't you need to
go to the loo?"
"No, that's OK. I go wee wee wee all
the way home."
If you love something, set it free.
If it comes back, it will always be
yours.
If it doesn't come back, it was never
yours to begin with.
But, if it just sits in your living room,
messes up your stuff, eats your food,
uses your telephone, takes your mon-
ey, and doesn't appear to realize that
you had set it free... You either mar-
ried it or gave birth to it.

We are a product of both our genetic
map (which we can do nothing about)
and how we have reacted to the various
issues and events we encountered on
our life’s journey to date. During this
journey we have been socialised to be
part of the crowd. While growing up,
the middle ground was considered to be
the safe space. If you stood out from
the crowd you were likely to get a clip
on the ear or a kick on your backside.
The herd instinct was generally a big-
ger influence on our lives as we be-
come part of the club / gang / peer
group.
Over time many of the supposed pillars
upon which society has been built have
been subsequently eroded and are now
being accepted as being disposable.
These include marriages, honesty, be-
liefs, respect for life and many more.
This change process has been energised
by others influencing our thoughts,
feelings and beliefs, resulting eventual-
ly in their desired agendas being
achieved.
Marketing is about triggering emotional
desires for the advantage of the market-
er. This is achieved by communicating
emotionally with the inner brain and
manipulating the target to be someone
else at that decision moment. Consum-
erism is a form of herding. Much of the
herd directional influence has been lead
by agenda leaders using the range of
media channels in very creative ways.
One of their most effective tactics is
their selective use of role-models. It’s
the association of their agenda with
someone their target craves. The herd
seems to follow the antlers of the celeb-
rity and is following on the road fuelled
by others. Many of these role models
will over time be seen to be built on
sand.
The new you is supposed to be cool, fit,
confident, good-looking and act as a
Billboard for the latest designer labels.
The trigger for this recycling back to
solid basics will come via some unex-
pected macro event, which will chal-
lenge us to stand back and reassess
where we are at, where we want to be
and how best we might get there.
Nature has a way of re-balancing itself.
Evolution happens through a continu-
ous process of micro variations, some
of which eventually gain legs. Some of
the most exotic plants in the world
weren’t carefully bred, but evolved via
mutation, where the gene pool got
mixed up due to some combination of
factors.
We can't choose the family or circum-
stances we were born into, but we can
choose our new extended network of
contacts. Life is an input / output mod-
el. We cannot get out what we don’t
put in. The quality of our input is the
biggest contributor to our output. We
mustn’t allow ourselves to be defined
by what we haven't done. We must
have more clarity about our desired
destination and its various staging
posts. We need to build some identity
capital. We need to optimise our net-
work of genuine supporters to help us
start travelling down our planned route.
If we know where we are going, we
will always suck in the required sup-
port. One cannot help those who don’t
know where they want to get to.
Everything in life has a price and we
must consciously or sub-consciously
decide if we are prepared to pay this
price.
Who have you been influenced by on
your journey to date?
Who in turn are you influencing? How
good a role-model are you for your po-
tential followers.
Where are you leading them?
Are you facilitating them to build their
latent capacity to travel towards their
desired objectives?

Under 17 boys were placed second position in all Ireland relays 4/400m
track and field held in Tullamore Saturday 20/07/13. L/R Ben
Buttimer,Robert Kennedy,Conor Meagher,Luke Herke,Dylan Ryan.
Templemore Athletic Club is continuing
to experience a wonderful year in Track &
Field Athletics at County, Munster and
National Level.
Twenty seven National Medals were won
in various All Ireland Competitions during
the month of July alone.
Eleven of these medals came from the vic-
torious girls under 9 team at the National
Championships in Ballybofey, Co. Done-
gal. These girls were like a breath of
fresh air in the Club. Their laughter,
friendliness and support of each other was
a joy to behold. They won Gold in the 4 x
100 metre relay; Silver in the 2 x 60 me-
tres; also Silver in both the 2 x long jump
and 2 x 300 metres. Team Members
were: Molly Dooley, Molly Nevin, Katie
Crous, Geena Quinlan, Tara Hoare
Their coach is Sandra Gillick, who de-
serves great credit for her efforts through-
out the season. These girls have a great
geographical spread residing as they do in
Clonakenny, Templemore, Errill, Roscrea
and Drom.
Patrick Purcell (Upperchurch U13) who
has been improving in every competition
throughout 2013, at his chosen event the
Shot Putt. Having secured the Silver
Medal in the Munster Championship in
Ennis in June he went on to win Gold in
the National Championships with a fine
throw of 11.96m. A great deal of work
was done with Patrick by his coach
Michael Hennessy, since the start of the
year.
Eva Rush (Templemore) collected her
first All Ireland Medal when she finished
in second place in the girls U14 race walk
in a time of 11mins 41.8 sec.
Simon Archer scaled new heights when he
cleared 1.95 metres in the High Jump and
just failed in setting a new Club record of
2.00m. His performance was outstanding,
in front of a large crowd of spectators,
supporters, family and friends. He was
ice cool in the heat of competition and is
certainly an excellent prospect for future
years.
Then to the relays, the boys U17 won Sil-
ver in the 4 x 400m in a time of 3 mins 59
seconds. This team can go on to even
greater success by training on a regular
basis during the coming Autumn and
Winter seasons.
Team Members were: , David Hanly, Si-
mon Archer, Tomas Varadi, Lukcaz
Dudek, Paul Hanley, all residents of Tem-
plemore.
This team commenced the season when
winning the senior relay (baton) at the
East Munster Schools on May 8th in a
time of 46.44 seconds. They then ran
46.38 at the Munster U19 Championship
when finishing in second place. Then at
the National Junior (Under 20) on 30th
June the young men ran 46.34, in very wet
conditions, to win All Ireland Bronze
Medals. Then in glorious sun-shine on
July 20th these lads ran 46.01 (which is a
new Club Juvenile record) in the Under 19
Inter Club Relay. They ran on the Tipper-
ary Inter County 4 x 100 Relay, with Si-
mon, Lukcaz and Tomas collected further
National Gold as members of this excel-
lent team.
Great credit must go to all the Club coach-
es, Sandra, Frankie, Bronagh, Sheelagh,
Aine, Jerry, Seamus, Michael, Martin, Ea-
mon, Trevor and Niamh for the role they
played in the success to date.
Now for August and the National Devel-
opment Games (B Championships) and
the National Masters on August 17th in
Tullamore. The Templemore Athletic
Track is open seven days a week from
9.00am to 9.00pm. Contact 087 2096356
for further details.
Wonderful Month for Templemore A.C.
History will be made this August
Bank Holiday when Catherine Maher
of Devilsbit Macra na Feirme will rep-
resent North Tipperary Macra at the
International Miss Macra Festival.
This will be the first time that Dev-
ilsbit Macra will have a contestant in
the competition in our ten year history.
Catherine, a member of Macra for the
last four years is currently Club Secre-
tary and is considered by members 'the
glue that keeps the Club together'.
Catherine is also very busy in her role
as Regional Competitions Chairperson
as its her job to organise all Macra
competitions for North Tipperary. She
has also recently been elected Captain
of the North Tipperary Macra Relay
for Life Team which last year raised
3,500 Euros. Aside from her Macra
activities Catherine works as a Chef in
Bobby Reidy's Bar in Newtown,
Nenagh and is receiving great support
and best wishes from all the customers
and staff.
Excitement is growing in the Club and
a huge contingent will be heading for

wishes Catherine the very best of luck
and are really looking forward to a
brilliant weekend not to be missed.

Have you ever asked yourself why do
I eat so much of the wrong foods?
Why do I always find myself reaching
for the calorie heavy carbs and fats?
Many of us are under huge pressures
and it’s hard to find time to feed up on
healthier foods. If you are not eating
healthy you are Eight times more like-
ly to reach out for the fats or the carbs.
These give us a “quick fix” so to speak
and stave off our hunger for a short
while. However, if you keep eating
like this you will find you are all the
time trying to satisfy that false high
and that’s when you notice the weight
begin to pile on. You are, of course,
hungry because there is no nutrition in
sweets, chocolates or
Crisps. Many of us suffering stress
will notice a strong desire for sugary
options at stressful times during the
day, usually mid morning and late af-
ternoon.
Hypnosis can re-educate your desires
for food easily and effortlessly. Have
you carried weight all your life? Do
you associate weight gain with your
mood changes? Could you be emo-
tionally attached to food? Hypnosis
can separate your eating and emotional
habits. Hypnosis is a safe and power-
ful way that you can get the change
you desire for yourself.
Do you Smoke? Have you smoked for
years and years? Did you know that if
you quit smoking you will half the
cost of your Mortgage Protection Cov-
er? Do you think that it would be too
difficult to Quit Smoking? Not so! At
HypnoSolutions after one, 2 hour ses-
sion you could be a happy healthy
non-smoker with no cravings and not
even miss smoking.
What are you waiting for? If you have
ever day-dreamed you can use Hypno-
sis for change in your life. Hypnosis
is perfectly safe and you are not asleep
while in the session.

It’s expensive to put your child through
school and/or university, so the sooner
you start saving, the better, writes Ea-
monn Walsh a Qualified Financial Advi-
sor
While for most of the population private
schools aren’t on the agenda, a “free”
education in Ireland still costs money
when you factor in necessities such as
uniforms, books and registration fees.
It is widely accepted that educating a
child in the public system to third-level
costs about €60,000.
With university fees reintroduced, par-
ents may need to have substantially high-
er savings for those expensive years.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
A recent Independent commissioned sur-
vey estimated that the annual cost of at-
tending a public primary school was
about €1,200 a year, taking into account
such costs as transport, uniform, books
and food. For secondary school, the an-
nual costs rose to more than €2,000. So,
to educate a child all the way up to the
Leaving Certificate will cost you about
€22,000.
If fees are introduced across the board for
Irish students and you don’t qualify for a
grant, the cost of attending university for
a child living away from home will jump
to €60,000 over the course of four years.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO SAVE?
When it comes to putting money aside
for your children’s education, two things
are key – starting early and saving con-
sistently.
The best place to start is with child bene-
fit, although this has become less attrac-
tive of late. The current rate for child
benefit is €130 per month for the first
Second & Third child, €140 per month
for the 4th and subsequent children (an-
nounced in Budget 2012).
Nevertheless, for a family with one child,
saving this amount each month from the
time the child is born and getting a return
on your money of 4 per cent, you will
have a nest egg of some €50,000 by the
time the child is 18 – almost enough to
pay for college, even if further fees have
been reintroduced.
WHAT SHOULD I INVEST IN?
Several financial institutions offer a vari-
ety of savings products dedicated to help-
ing pay for education. Deposit accounts
are often the most popular, but beware of
the fine print.
While deposit accounts may be best suit-
ed to parents with older children, if your
children are very young you might do
better by investing in the stock market.
Like savings accounts, there are some
stock market-based products dedicated to
saving for an education but again, this
doesn’t mean that they are the best
choice.
How do I choose an investment that is
right for me?
As an investor, you want to achieve the
highest possible return at a level of risk
that suits you. The key is finding a bal-
ance between the amount of risk you are
willing to take and the potential returns
you want to achieve.
There are four main asset classes you can
invest in, these include Cash (ie.deposit
accounts mentioned above) Equities
(stocks and shares), Property and Bonds

Culture Night is a nationwide initiative and the
country’s largest platform to showcase our rich
and diverse cultural and artistic offering. In
2012 The Source Arts Centre hosted a perform-
ance by The Source Dance Artist in Residence,
Cathy O’Kennedy and her young dance stu-
dents. We also hosted a marathon community
reading of Ulysses by local theatre and litera-
ture groups initiated by Thurles native, Bill
Cooke. It was a wonderful event and this year
we hope to get the local creative juices flowing
again on Culture Night in Thurles.
The Source Arts Centre is now calling for sub-
missions from artists based in North Tipperary.
We are looking for a series of professional and
amateur performance pieces to be showcased in
The Source Arts Centre on Friday 20th Septem-
ber, Culture Night. We seek original work from
the county to be showcased in the county on
Culture Night. The performance piece should
be no longer than 12 minutes and can be in the
form of theatre, dance, song, live music, poetry
or literature readings, film or multi-media pres-
entation. Submissions will be accepted from
artists working professionally or from those
who just enjoy creating and performing new
work. An expert panel will choose a selection
of pieces to be showcased on The Source Arts
Centre stage on Culture Night. The piece to be
performed must be original work and the
creator/performer based in County Tipperary.
So, if you are an old hand at this kind of thing
or fancy creating new work for the very first
time, please do get in touch.
In order to apply please send the following to

The Upperchurch Drombane Cy-
cling Club (UDCC) invites you
to join us in Upperchurch for our
Annual Charity Cycle on Sunday
1st September 2013. Our Irish
National Tandem-Para Time Tri-
al Champions (2013) Peter Ryan
and Damien Shaw will be present
at this cycle.
Peter Ryan of Drombane, and a
member of UDCC, suffers from
Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neu-
ropathy which leads to the loss of
central vision. Peter first experi-
enced the effects of LHON at the
age of 20 with his condition
worsening by the time he turned
21, when he effectively lost sight
in both eyes, Peter is now 23.
Prior to Peter experiencing the
effects of LHON, he was a keen
GAA player for the Upperchurch
Drombane Minor and Under 21
Hurling teams. He also played
football and soccer for Upper-
church Drombane. Peter was
employed locally by OMC engi-
neering; and has been unable to
work since his condition deterio-
rated.
Following his sight loss, Peter
has been focusing on building a
life and finding a passion to take
on. Following the success of the
Irish Olympic and Paralympic
teams in London 2012, the Cy-
cling Ireland call for Para-cyclists
in October 2012 was the catalyst
that brought Peter and cycling
together.
Peter had his first race (a time
trial) in March 2013 and while
the team finished 3rd, it was a
very respectable result for a new
comer to cycling. Since then,
Peter has focused on his training
and was fortunate enough to get a
pilot for the National Tandem-
Para Time Trial Championships
in June 2013, and along with his
pilot Damien Shaw, put in a bril-
liant effort to post the fastest time
on the day.
In the past UDCC has raised
money for local charities (Suir
Haven Hospice and Nenagh Re-
hab), this year we have chosen to
support Peter as he attempts to
get on the Irish Cycling team for
the World Tandem-Para cycling
championships in Canada in Sep-
tember.
There will be 100km, 50km and
25km routes available on the day.
Refreshments will be provided on
the longer route and following all
of the cycles in the Upperchurch
Hall.
Upperchurch is located in North
Tipperary, we are sure you will
enjoy the challenge and scenery
of cycling in the Slieve Felim
mountains.

Miraculous
Novena

By Jim O’Shea
Anxiety (continued from previous issue)
The Miraculous Prayer
Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I’ve
asked for many favours. This time I
ask You this very special one (mention
favour). Take it Dear Heart of Jesus and
place it within Your own broken heart
where Your Father sees it. Then in His
merciful eyes it will become Your fa-
vour, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer
for 3 days, promise publication and fa-
vour will be granted. Never know to fail
. No initials given
Prayer to the Holy Spirit in thanksgiv-
ing for favour received
O HOLY SPIRIT, Third Person of the
Blessed Trinity, Spirit of Truth, of Love
and of Holiness, proceeding from the
Father and the Son and equal to Them in
all things, I adore Thee and love Thee
with all my heart. Teach me to know and
seek my last end; grant me the holy fear
of God; grant me compunction and pa-
tience, and suffer me not to fall into sin.
Grant me an increase of Faith, Hope and
Charity, and bring forth in my soul all
the virtues proper to my state of life.
Make me a faithful disciple of Jesus
Christ, and an obedient child of Holy
Church. Grant me an efficacious grace to
keep the Commandments and to receive
the Sacraments worthily. Grant me the
Four Cardinal Virtues, Thy Seven Gifts,
Thy Twelve Fruits. Raise me to perfec-
tion in the state of life to which Thou
hast called me; and lead me, through a
happy death, to life everlasting through
Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. No initials
given.
Novena to Saint Claire
Pray whether you believe or not and
promise to publish or circulate.
Ask for 3 favours: 1 business and 2 im-
possible.
Say 9 Hail Mary's and the following
prayer for 9 nights in front of a lighted
candle,
God of mercy you inspired St. Claire
with the love of poverty by the help of
her prayers. May we follow Christ in
poverty of spirit and come to the joyful
vision of your glory in the kingdom of
heaven. We ask this through our Lord
Jesus Christ your son who lives and
reigns with the Holy Spirit, One God for-
ever and ever. Amen
No initials given.
Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary
O most beautiful Flower of Mt. Carmel,
Fruitful Vine, Splendour of Heaven,
Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Im-
maculate Virgin, assist me in this my ne-
cessity (mention your intentions). O Star
of the Sea, help me and show me herein
you are my Mother. O holy Mary, Moth-
er of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I
humbly beseech you from the bottom of
my heart, to succour me in this necessity;
there are none that can withstand your
power. O show me herein you are my
Mother.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for
us who have recourse to thee. (3 times)
Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your
hands. (3 times)
B.R.
Grateful thanks to the Sacred Heart of
Jesus, Blessed Virgin, St. Joseph, St.
Jude, St. Martin, St. Padre Pio, St. Teresa
& St. Anne for many favours received.

Novena to St Anthony
O holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints,
your love for God and charity for his
creatures made you worthy while on
earth to possess miraculous powers. Mir-
acles waited your word, which you were
ever ready to speak for those in trouble
or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I
implore you to obtain for me the favor I
seek in this novena (State your inten-
tion). The answer to my prayer may re-
quire a miracle; even so, you are the saint
of miracles. O gentle and loving Saint
Anthony, whose heart was ever full of
human sympathy, whisper my petition
into the ears of the Infant Jesus, who
loved to be folded in your arms, and thee
gratitude of my heart will always be
yours.
One Our Father, one Hail Mary, and
Glory Be to the Father. T.D.
Edmund Bourne’s workbook also has some
very specific information about the relation-
ship between nutrition and anxiety. Bearing
in mind that anxiety has at least some biolog-
ical basis, it makes sense that what we eat or
imbibe affects our mood. There are substanc-
es that aggravate anxiety such as stimulants,
as already mentioned – caffeine, nicotine,
and certain medications. We all know that
caffeine keeps us alert, and prevents a good
night’s sleep. In the context of anxiety, caf-
feine causes the same arousal response as we
experience when we suffer stress – a rush of
adrenaline and increased nervous system ac-
tivity. If we drink too much coffee, for exam-
ple, some of us are risking putting ourselves
in a constant state of tension and arousal that
contributes to anxiety and panic. It also
decreases our level of vitamin B1, which is an
anti-stress vitamin. We should also be aware
that caffeine is not only found in coffee, but
also in tea, cola, chocolate and so on. We do
not have to live a life of austerity, however,
and deprive ourselves totally of coffee or
other beverages. Bourne recommends that
we reduce out intake to one cup per day. Yet,
for some anxiety sufferers one cup may be
sufficient to increase their anxiety. If you are
a heavy consumer of coffee, you may suffer
withdrawal symptoms if you abruptly change
from 4 or 5 cups a day to one, so it is best to
cut down gradually. Withdrawal symptoms
often resemble being insane, and we must
avoid this feeling.
Some prescribed or over the counter drugs
contain caffeine and have equally damaging
effects in the context of anxiety and panic
attacks. From what I understand, for exam-
ple, Nurofen Plus and Solpadeine are two
drugs that contain caffeine. If this is true
taking too many of these increases the risk of
anxiety. Several illicit drugs contain caffeine
and other substances that increase the risk of
anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations and panic
attacks.
Nicotine, chemicals and additives that
make anxiety worse.
Nicotine has as strong an effect as caffeine. I
think that most of us are under the impression
that smoking ‘calms the nerves’. Cigarette
smokers claim that when they have their
morning ‘fag’, they feel calmer. Yet why is it
that smokers are more anxious than non-
smokers? They do not sleep as well, and
when they give up smoking, they tend to
have less anxiety and panic. Medically it has
been shown that nicotine increases physical
arousal, constricts our veins and puts pres-
sure on our heart. Smoking is, as you know,
an addiction, and those who suffer from se-
vere anxiety also tend to cut off their feel-
ings. Addiction is one way to dull the
feelings. Therefore, very anxious people are
in danger of becoming addicts. Calming the
nerves is a constant concern to them. Re-
search shows that a significant percentage of
smokers who have tried and failed to give up
smoking have anxiety disorders, and even the
prospect of giving up smoking fills them with
anxiety.
There are also substances, preservatives and
hormones in meat that seriously affect our
health and consequently our level of anxiety.
We have seen the link between heart prob-
lems and anxiety, and we now know that
excessive salt raises our blood pressure and
affects our heart. Excessive sugar can be
equally damaging. Our bodies need a certain
amount of sugar, as well as a certain amount
of salt. Too much, however, damages our
health and increases our anxiety, because
poor health is a prime cause of anxiety. Glu-
cose is the fuel that comes from sugar, and is
necessary for energy. Generally, we get our
sugar from our food, especially from carbo-
hydrates. This process is slow and our bodies
can handle it efficiently, but if we take pure
sugar, it breaks down quickly and our sys-
tems are overloaded too quickly with too
much sugar. This results in difficulties with
regulating the chemical reactions of the sugar
(metabolism). Some people get excessively
high levels of blood sugar while others suffer
a decrease in levels causing anxiety, trem-
bling, irritability, and dizziness and so on. As
you can see these are also the symptoms of a
panic attack.
Therefore, if you wish to reduce the level of
anxiety in your life from one particular
source, have a look at your diet. Get rid of, or
greatly reduce, as much simple sugar as you
can, including sweets, ice cream, and des-
serts. The important thing is to get a stable
blood sugar level.
I feel very concerned at the presence of so
many chemicals to preserve food and en-
hance its taste. There are over 5,000 chemi-
cals in existence today and some of them are
lethal to our health. Consider, for example,
the amount of cancer around right now. Look
at the statistics for breast cancer. I remember
women dying from breast cancer in the
1960s, but it was nothing like as prevalent as
it is today. I am convinced that it is connected
to the amount of chemicals in our food. Con-
sider the impact of cancer on the person who
gets it and on their families. There is nothing
as shocking as being told you have cancer.
The anxiety that this produces is long term,
and the thought always lurks that it may
return even after being given the all clear.
Bourne offers a 12 point summary of low
stress/anxiety guidelines about reducing
stimulants, caffeine, nicotine, consumption
of refined sugar, foods that give you aller-
gies, red meat, increasing dietary fibre
(whole grains, brans and raw vegetables),
increasing the amount of water you drink
every day, and so on. He also looks at supple-
ments for anxiety such a B Vitamins and
Vitamin C. He advocates an adequate amount
of calcium, which has a calming effect, the
lack of which can contribute to anxiety.
Bourne also lists various relaxing herbs,
bearing in mind that he is writing for Ameri-
cans. He mentions Ginkgo Biloba and Saint-
