Due to the fast economic growth of
the Asia Pacific region and
increasing demand from clients,
Tebodin has established an office in
Thailand. With this new office,
located in Bangkok, another country
has been entered by Tebodin. It is
the eighth office in the Asia Pacific
region. The total number of
engineers and consultants in this
region is over 500.
The new Tebodin office in Thailand
will focus on services to worldwide
clients who are active in industrial
markets. The first target is to assist
clients who are already served by
Tebodin in other countries.
Tebodin has seen a rapid growth in
the Asia Pacific region over the last
years. Since 2010 five new offices
have been established in this region:
in China (Guangzhou and Nanjing),
Indonesia (Jakarta), Malaysia (Kuala
Lumpur) and the new office in
Thailand. Other Tebodin offices in
this area are located in Shanghai
(China), Chennai (India) and
Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

‘Today is the last day of the shutdown. Scaffolding is taken down,
tools leave the building, we can see more of the beautiful ground
floor and the sound of machines is increasingly replaced by the
sounds of regular production. On a day like this, I want to share my
admiration and pride with you. So many have worked so hard to
realize this maintenance stop within the set time-limits with optimal
attention to safety.’

maintenance stop at a MSD plant in Oss,
the Netherlands, in May 2012. Tebodin

Synergy advantages
MSD, known as Merck in the United
States and Canada, is a global health
care leader. The Oss site is home to
MSD API, a worldwide supplier of active
pharmaceutical ingredients. The goal of
the production stop was to complete
several projects to secure future
production capacity. Not less than
50 significant projects were executed in
three weeks time, including other
maintenance and periodic inspection
activities.
MSD requested Tebodin to coordinate the
activities, to realize synergy advantages
over the different projects, to execute the
stop with an excellent HSE track record –
Zero Incidents – and to reduce downtime.
Highly valued partnership
Tebodin has executed many projects for
MSD. In March 2011, Tebodin and MSD
signed an umbrella contract for architecture
and engineering services, and later that
year, MSD expanded the partnership with a
contract for construction management
services. Both contracts are the continuation
of a highly valued relationship.
Remarkable challenges
This project at MSD Oss is remarkable
for its fast track preparation of only
2.5 months instead of the regular 6 to
12 months, including selection of
contractors. Preparation ran from February
to April 2012, for the three week
shutdown in April and May. Other
challenges included the limited space for
hundreds of contractors to work in and the
diversity of projects and stakeholders.
Those challenges were met, concludes
Mr. Robert van Dam of MSD: ‘It looks like
we’ve succeeded, together.

Bilfinger Berger has received many
positive reactions on the acquisition of

Priorities
With two naphtha crackers and several
polymerization plants for the production of
polyethylene and polypropylene, the
facilities in Geleen occupy a vast percentage
of the Chemelot industrial site. The site is
connected to the ports of Rotterdam and
Antwerp, as well as the Ruhr area in
Germany, by a pipeline network that
delivers the raw materials. The SABIC
engineering team in Geleen is focusing on
a number of high-priority activities,
including sizeable capital projects.
‘Tebodin brings us additional engineering
capacity in a different way of working’,
says SABIC project manager Mr. Ger
Graven. They will support us with project
portfolio management, increase our
capabilities in realizing our projects, assist
in optimizing work processes and
minimizing the overall amount of man
hours involved. Thus, enabling our
stakeholders to receive quality product and
services.
Parallel projects
Tebodin had already proven the value of
its project management skills and on-site
presence at Chemelot in earlier
assignments. Tebodin project portfolio
manager Mr. Roger Smeets explains: ‘We
are introducing a different way of working.
We develop multiple projects in parallel,
with minimal guidance and control from
the client side, and maximum cooperation
between engineers, designers and the
construction contractors. Early interactions
with the contractors are vital to this
integrated project approach.’
An important success factor is the on-site
presence which enables parties to work
very closely together. Mr. Smeets: ‘Timely
information gathering is a key factor in
achieving alignment with SABIC’s team
and setting up proper project portfolio
management. Multiple work processes can
be optimized in relation to the different
project scopes. In the beginning of 2012
we started off by working on seven
projects. Over the next few years, this may
develop into various projects and activities,
from front-end loading to engineering,
procurement and construction.’

Up and running already
Speeding up construction was achieved
partly by the use of prefabricated
concrete elements in structural elements
such as the foundation and slabs, and
by the use of new materials and
technologies such as soil improvement
with special solutions and injections
with epoxy resins.
Production has already started at the
15,000 square meter IAC Bals
manufacturing plant. It is fully operational
since the first quarter of 2012.

IAC’s search for a suitable location
close to Ford’s Romanian production
facility led them to Bals. Only
25 kilometers away from Craiova, the
site offered proximity to utilities such
as gas and electricity and the
availability of workforce in the area.
From Bals, IAC will be delivering
systems and components for Ford’s
future model B-Max.
Delivering speed and quality
HOCHTIEF was chosen as the
general contractor for the project,
with Tebodin Romania acting as the
project manager. ‘They have done
an excellent job of supervising the
execution of all works in accordance
with the design,’ says Mr. Darryl
Roadnight, general project manager
for IAC, ‘as well as monitoring
compliance with Romanian law and
our quality requirements. Tebodin’s
presence during all critical moments

Prague’s historical inner city is ever more attractive for tourists,
discerning shoppers and property investors alike. On one of the
city’s main boulevards, developer LORDSHIP and IMMOFINANZ
Group as investors are preserving the impressive façade of a former
bank while building office and retail space for the 21st
century.
The wide boulevard Na Prˇíkopeˇ, running
eastward from the famous Wenceslas
Square, features some of the most
expensive commercial real estate in the
Czech capital. The building on the corner
with Panská Street, built as a bank at the
beginning of the 20th
century, is located in
the Prague heritage historical center.
Building modern office and retail facilities
on this prime location was always going
to be a challenge which perfectly suits the
experienced property developer LORDSHIP.
The company has been active in real estate
investment and development in Central
Europe since 1991, and is taking on this
prestigious project together with
IMMOFINANZ Group.
Top class project
The location and the preservation of
historical elements are the main aspects
of this project. But there’s more. The
building will include an automatic parking
system for up to 150 cars in the
underground floors, which needed to be
excavated under the original basement of
the building. Moreover, the goal of the
project is to develop this location to the
highest of international standards and
achieve a LEED Gold certification.

East-West Seed International aims to improve the quality of
vegetable seed in Asia and therefore will have a new facility in
Vietnam to expand its activities. Tebodin has started with a value
engineering session of an already existing design of a seed
processing plant in Vietnam. Based on the value engineering it
was further developed into a detail design, which was locally
tendered and for which the construction will start very soon.

the contract to complete East-West
Seed’s seed processing plant – a
project that had already been
started and is now on

The best of Europe and Asia
‘Tebodin had what we were
looking for’, says Mr. Joost van
Elzakker, project manager for
East-West Seed: ‘Extensive

delivering on time and within budget.’
The seed processing plant is being set
up to supply quality seed products for
the Vietnamese market. Vietnam is
one of six countries in Asia where
East-West Seed locally operates, its
goal always is to bring Western
expertise to Asian vegetable
cultivation. Since its establishment in
1982 the company has significantly
raised the industry standard in Asia,
thereby improving the economic
situation of farmers by improving Asian
vegetable varieties.

Going for LEED Gold in the heart of Prague
Adventure World Warsaw is going to be the largest fun park of
Central and Eastern Europe. After the last administrative hurdles
were taken this spring, construction works are now set to start
in earnest. The park is expected to open its doors to the public
in the first quarter of 2015.
Project development company Las Palm is
confident about the market potential for
a large-scale theme park in the middle of
Poland. The ideal location for the
240-hectare site was found in Grodzisk
Mazowiecki, 30 km southwest of
Warsaw. The town is at the crossroads of
Poland’s major highways and also has
good rail links, allowing easy access from
other countries.
Two million visitors a year
Adventure World Warsaw will have
indoor facilities open all year round, as
well as an open-air section in use from
April to November. Apart from the hotels,
restaurants, bars, cinemas and shops that
will help make it a family destination for
more than one day, the park features a
dazzling array of spectacular rides and
attractions.

17,5 meters below street level, while the
groundwater reaches to about 11 meters
below street level. We had to secure the
integrity of the façade at all times while
the conveyor belt system for the removal
of soil from the massive pit left us almost
no space for the temporary site facilities.
All went well however, and the project is
on schedule to be completed in June
2013.’

‘It is going to be an entertainment resort
for an expected two million visitors a year
after the first stage is completed’, says
Tebodin project manager Lukasz
Lewandowski at the Warsaw office. ‘We
are responsible for the overall project
management, permitting, advice on
Polish regulation to Dutch architects, road

delays, mainly due to the transformation
of prime agricultural land into investment
area and in consequence into a huge
building site. The new zoning plan will
clear the way for the building permit next
month.’

International support for
pharmaceutical campus
In April 2011, Tebodin was contacted by Orion Pharma from
Bangladesh for the conceptual design of a pharmaceutical campus,
housing several factories, each manufacturing a great number of
pharmaceutical products. Creation of a Site Master Plan and full
compliance with international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
regulations were essential. The combined vast experience in
designing pharmaceutical buildings of Tebodin’s Eindhoven office and
Irish partner RKD Architects proved critical for this complex project.
Hard to reach places
At first sight, the green field project
seemed easy enough. However, it turned
out to be either a paddy or rice field in
the capital city of Dhaka, or a relative dry
but remote field in Bhaluka. Furthermore,
the project had to be executed in the
most densely populated country of the
world. The design team had to be
transported by helicopter to site visits
as normal traffic over a distance of
70 kilometers from Dhaka to Bhaluka
would take all day – one way.
Varied scope
The scope covered over 600 different
products and 25 dosing forms, such as
tablets, capsules, ampoules, syrups,
ointment, and injections. These products
and processes were divided over five
different factories, including a blood
plasma fractionation plant, a sterile
manufacturing building and a building
for hormones and contraceptives – plus
a variety of site utilities.
Helicopter view
Tebodin and RKD Architects invented a
birds-eye view hierarchy
starting with the site
level, followed by
the factories,
processes, unit-
operations and
components. The processes were
described in ‘master modules’ and jigsaw-
puzzled into the factories. This, in
combination with capturing all relevant

Hoek van Holland on the North Sea coast, is being
completely renovated. The port of Rotterdam Authority
called on Tebodin for an integrated redesign of the
building.
Europe’s largest port is an important
distribution center for inland European
destinations. The Port of Rotterdam has
a sizeable petrochemical industry and
several oil refineries, and is also a major
grain and general cargo harbor.
Safe shipping
The Port Authority develops and manages
all port facilities. It is responsible for safe
shipping in the entire port area of over
11,000 hectares. It also monitors all traffic
with the help of 85 vessel traffic
operators and a high-tech network of
38 radar stations. The system has two
vessel traffic centers, one of which was
renovated two years ago.
The busy port has a great safety record
and is determined to keep it, according
to Mr. Gerard van Kralingen, design and
construction manager for the Port
Authority. ‘We are upgrading the
technology to ensure safety and efficiency
while the port is growing fast. In the next
20 years, a 20 percent increase in vessel
movements is expected. Our system can
monitor ships constantly, from
60 kilometers off the coast all the way
into Rotterdam (40 kilometers).’
World War II bunker
‘The building in Hoek van
Holland has an interesting
history’, says Tebodin
project manager Mr. Duncan Goodall. ‘In
order to make use of the best location,
the Vessel Traffic Center was constructed
on top of one of the World War II
bunkers that litter the Dutch North Sea
coast. Our main task in redesigning the
building to meet current demands was to
optimize the logic and efficiency in the
way it is used, while maintaining its
architectural presence. Since the very
beginning in February 2011 our architects
have worked on an integrated design
with all disciplines represented. There
have been a few challenges, but the
building will be completed on-schedule in
August 2012; with the interior fit-out
following in November. Over the last few
months we have also been working on
another project for the Port Authority; a
preliminary design and cost estimate for
a new radar tower on Maasvlakte that
we hope to be able to develop further in
the coming period.’

2011 to May 2012. Currently, Tebodin

Pharma. The project will transform the
Bhaluka site into a state-of-the-art
pharmaceutical campus meeting the
international pharmaceutical GMP
regulations. Orion Pharma’s project

creating history; this project will contribute
to the development of Bangladesh.’

Architectural solutions include the
construction of two large atriums inside
the shopping center, forming the main
compositional core of the whole complex
space. These two areas are joined together
by two three-level shopping streets or
‘alleys’, full of natural daylight, creating a
functional connection of all trade center
premises both vertically and horizontally.
City inhabitants, visitors and tourists will all
walk along these ‘alleys’, as if they were
walking along the streets of old Lviv city
with its historical buildings, public
institutions, squares and residential areas.
Multi Development
The new shopping center is a project
of Multi Development, a pan-
European developer, cooperating with
local developer Galereja Centr on this
project. The initial conceptual design
was done by T+T, the in-house
architect of Multi Development.
Architectural solutions
The design for Forum Lviv considers
the peculiarities of Lviv city, which is
a combination of architectural styles
and mixture of traditions. The interiors
and exteriors of the building are

The Super Regional Shopping Center is
planned as an enclosed structure with a
total gross leasable area of 150,000 m2
.
The total gross building area will be
220,000 m2
. This is a ONE STOP
shopping destination with a full range
offer including international and domestic
fashion retailers, restaurants, cafés and
leisure components, anchored by cinema,
electronic, hypermarket and IKEA, as a
unique destination.
Tebodin’s Shanghai office is responsible
for the overall project management
activities of the center. This means that
Tebodin scope of work contains –
besides the procurement and
construction management – design
coordination, interface management
with all consultants, tenant fit-out
coordination and permitting support.
The project started in November 2011
and is scheduled to open at the end of
2013.

An end to leakage in Omani oil station
Corrosion of piping on the Saih Rawl station was leading to oil
spills and frequent repairs that stalled production. New and
better replacement materials are putting an end to that.
Oman, who put a 30-strong team on
the detailed, front-end design.
Overall coordination of the project from
PDO’s side is in the hands of Mr. Geoff
Sergeant, who expressed his
appreciation of engineering partner
Tebodin: ‘They have proven to be a

credibility of commitment that they
gave at the tendering stage. As the
project progresses, they are proving to
be able to deliver as scheduled, while

was accepted,’ says Mr. Mohammed Zakir

were able to continue our involvement in
the timely completion of the project. This
includes coordination and executive tasks
in a range of fields such as cooperation
between the various disciplines, HAZOP
and other key design reviews as well as

of attraction close to the medieval city center of Lviv, Ukraine,
raising the significance and status of the area. The Forum Lviv
project started in 2008, but unfortunately was delayed by the
financial crisis. In 2011, when the project restarted, Tebodin won
the tender for conceptual and basic design of this architectural
attraction.
Traffic Center
140 kilometers north of Ekaterinburg. This
large iron and steel works also processes
vanadium-enriched titan ferrous ores, using
massive amounts of oxygen and nitrogen.
Mr. Polyakov: ‘We started working on
this project in September 2011. The
process design was made by the Praxair
engineering unit in Shanghai. We adapted
the drawings to Russian norms and
regulations and elaborated a complete
basic and detail design. A Tebodin team
visited Shanghai several times to gain an
in-depth understanding of the process
technology.’
Local presence
Tebodin’s technical supervision and local
presence in Ekaterinburg is important to
Praxair, which based its own expert team
in the office during the engineering phase.
‘There has been intensive cooperation
between our two engineering teams’, Mr.
Polyakov continues. ‘We had to cope with
several changes in the design brief along
the way, but all deliverables were right on
time. This project will be completed in
January 2013 and Praxair is planning for a
second stage in the near future. We have
already provided a budget cost estimate.’

High density design
This is a challenging project for the
Tebodin Lviv office because of the high
density of the built environment and the
architecture of the new building. The
geological situation is also demanding,
with an underground river located close
to the new building. The project gross
area is now designed as 69,000 m2
with
approximately 36,000 m2
of leasable area.
The design of the shopping center also
provides space planning solutions for an
underground car parking, trade, leisure
and entertainment, production, sanitary
and hygienic units, domestic premises and
public catering premises.
The project has obtained a positive
conclusion from the State Expertise
and the next step is detail design
development with further
construction.
Forum Lviv will be one of the first
shopping centers in Ukraine with a
BREEAM certification, a milestone
for Ukraine.

Salt
treatment
Romania’s national salt producer
Salrom SA is developing a new
treatment plant in the town of Dej
in Cluj county, where salt mining
dates back to Roman times.
The project for the concept, basic
and detail design for the new
plant’s technology was awarded to
Tebodin. In developing the
technological concept, local experts
in Romania are cooperating closely
with process specialists from the
Deventer office in the Netherlands.
The new plant will feature several
units for different process steps,
including salt grinding, sieve
separation, ionization and
packaging, ranging from big bags
to smaller quantities of 15 kg,
1 kg and 0.5 kg.

Praxair is building new air
separation facilities in Russia’s
Sverdlovsk region to produce
industrial gases for local clients.
Tebodin already proved its worth
to Praxair and the Ekaterinburg
office now underlines its local
added value in Eastern Europe.
Industrial gases are used in a whole range
of industries and manufacturing processes,
including oil refining and the production of
steel, fertilizer, food and electronics. They
may be noble gases such as helium and
neon, or compound gases such as
hydrogen chloride. Most common are
nitrogen and oxygen, which can be
produced in an air separation plant.
Russian market leader
Praxair has 26,000 employees worldwide
and produces industrial, process and
specialty gases in over 30 countries. After
significant investments in its Russian
capacity, the company now produces over
3,500 tons of oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen
and argon each day. ‘Praxair strives to be
market leader and Tebodin wants to be its
reliable and long-term partner’, says
project manager Mr. Sergey Polyakov.
‘This is the first of several Praxair projects
for Tebodin in Russia.’ Praxair is building
the new plant on the site of the Evraz
Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Complex, about

(PDO), the foremost oil exploration and
production company in the Sultanate of
Oman, was faced with on-plot pipe
corrosion on its Saih Rawl station, it
decided that the way to stop the stream of
repairs was to replace the existing bare
steel piping, inlet headers and valves.
Modern materials
The new parts will be more resilient
against the corrosive qualities of the
oil as they are lined with either fusion
bonded epoxy or high-density
polyethylene. The overhaul will result
in a station that is more reliable and
cheaper to maintain. The equipment
will have a longer service life and
better adaptability to various operation
methods including methods to be
developed in the future. Also, thanks
to the existing butterfly valves being
replaced by ball valves, PDO will be
able to shut down parts of the station
without valve passing.

Pipeline Technology Conference
On the 7th Pipeline Technology
conference for Central Europe, reports
of the latest key projects pipelines were
discussed as well as new developments
in the oil and gas industry.
Tebodin presented a paper about soil
friction along Horizontal Directional
Drillings (HDD). In the paper a refined
model of applying soil friction along
HDD’s is proposed to reduce force/stress
on the critical parts (upper bends) of the
drillings which is important to design more
economically.
‘Tebodin takes your assets into the future‘
This symposium was organized by the
Consultancy unit and Netherlands West. It
covered how to make a profitable life from
the assets at a minimal cost.
As oil export capacity in the Taq Taq license area in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) is
being increased from a nominal 60,000 barrels to 150,000 barrels per day, Taq Taq
Operating Company (TTOPCO) is upgrading its facilities accordingly. The company
chose to call in the expertise of Tebodin in setting up a new version of the fire
fighting system at the tanker loading station.
The main project of upgrading the loading station was awarded to Turkish
contractor HAVATEK who have already commenced engineering work for this
project. Mr. Torolf Holme, Facilities Manager at TTOPCO: ‘In addition, we have
asked Tebodin’s Abu Dhabi office to review the requirements for the upgrade of the
fire fighting system. Based on that review, they will prepare a brief that will enable
us to enter discussions with the contractor about amending their work scope.’
Fire fighting advice throughout the project
‘A solid fire safety concept is a crucial part of a project such as this,’ says Mr. Peter
van Gorp, Team Leader Fire and Safety Consultancy on behalf of Tebodin. ‘After
preparing the brief, we will continue providing our services as reviewers of the
contractor’s detailed engineering and as TTOPCO’s fire fighting advisors throughout
the project.’
TTOPCO is a purpose entity established and jointly owned by
Genel Energy PLC and Addax Petroleum International Ltd.,
a wholly owned subsidiary of Sinopec. Its operation in
Kurdistan consists of a central production facility, where crude
oil is gathered and treated, and a tanker loading station from
where crude oil is transported to refineries in the region.

to the main workshop we worked on a
range of facilities such as a transformer
substation, a wastewater treatment plant
and a water network, compressor and
pump stations and infrastructural facilities.
We also worked on the reconstruction of
the ladle and tundish stands in the blast
oxygen furnace building. All in all, the
project capacity reached 60,000 man-
hours.’
‘There is still a major potential in this
market,’ says Mr. Balanyuk. ‘In the past
few years investments have not reached
the levels analysts expected, partly due to
the global economic crisis. If long-term
visions prevail, however, there is definitely
a role for Tebodin in keeping Ukraine high
on the list of steel-producing countries.’

Ukrainian engineering and construction
companies and process suppliers such as
Siemens VAI, Danieli and SMS Group. Our
first contract in this high-potential market
was as Siemens VAI’s engineering partner
on a project to modernize Ukraine’s largest
metallurgical enterprise, Krivorizhstal.
Siemens VAI is acting as process supplier
for Arcelor Mittal, who won the tender for
the privatization of Krivorizhstal in 2005. In
their investment agreement with the
government they agreed to undertake an
ambitious modernization program: they
would upgrade production from low-tech
semis to high-end steel products and would
also drastically reduce energy consumption
and emissions from the plant.’

to develop a set of basic and detail
engineering documentation for the main
workshop, where a continuous casting
machine would provide modern production

With a history that dates back to the 1930s
Ukraine’s steel industry is still an important
contributor to the country’s economy.
Ukraine stably occupies a top-ten place
among the world’s steel producers and a
top-five place among steel exporters. But
there is also a downside to the industry’s
long history: many plants are several
decades old, with out-dated technology
that is falling behind in terms of quality,
energy efficiency and environmental
friendliness. If Ukraine’s steel industry
wants to maintain its position in the global
steel market, it will have to update.
Global spin-off

Waste management seminar
On 20 June, Tebodin in Poland hosted
the seminar ‘Effective implementation of
waste management projects.’
The purpose of the meeting was to
highlight the key issues related to new
legal regulations for waste
management. It also intended to
describe the practical aspects of
preparation and implementation of
investment projects in waste
management facilities, such as: biogas,
modern dumps, incineration and the
composting plants.

Energy hub concept
Ertzberg is involved in the European
e-hub research program into the benefits
of smart energy management systems,
covering the whole chain from power
plant to end-consumer. Ertzberg and their
European Community partners aim to
implement and demonstrate their smart
energy grid concept
in the Tweewaters
project with the help
of a consortium of
energy specialists.
Ultimate smart-grid design
‘This project is about the ultimate
smart-grid design in a BREEAM building
environment,’ says Tebodin project
manager Mr. Arasta Pourkamal: ‘A great
deal of energy and CO2
reduction is
achieved through optimized building
design and architecture and local
co-generation in combination with smart
controlling of power consumers such as
household appliances. Also, local energy
resources such as biogas from organic
waste are incorporated in the concept.
In this way, the project area will have an
energy reduction up to 60% and a CO2
reduction of 55% compared to a typical
residential area.’
Ertzberg has already integrated the
concept of electric vehicles in the private
and public parking’s of tweewaters area.
Meanwhile the smartness software is
prepared to manage the battery charge
and discharge of a smart electrical vehicle
whenever the local grid requires.
Building on expertise
The Tebodin team has so far provided a
wide range of services on the project,
the concept into a business model to
generate visible financial, technical and
ecological values, in close collaboration
with Ertzberg. Many design issues are
new in this project. We rely strongly on
our combined knowledge and experience

Last month, Tebodin acquired the remaining 49% shares in the
Indian operation Tebodin Mukesh Consultants & Engineers India.
Five years ago, in 2007, Tebodin and Indian company Mukesh
Projects created the joint venture for Western clients investing in
the Indian industrial and oil and gas markets, where cooperation
and safety are the key.

Engineers India, the company has seen
a rapid growth in the last few years.
Recently, the office relocated to bigger
premises in Chennai to accommodate
the growing staff, and opened project

Major projects
Major current projects in India include
the multi-crop breeding center for
Bayer at Hyderabad, the furniture
fitting manufacturing plant for Hettich
at Vadodara, and revamping and
modernization of a cellulose
manufacturing plant for DFE Pharma at
Cuddallore. Two running automotive
projects are the car body stamping and
assembly plant for Gestamp Sungwoo at
Sipcot and the new Michelin’s tire factory
at Chennai.
Safety achievements
Last March, Tebodin and Michelin India
joined up to celebrated India’s 41st
National Safety Day. Attendees learned
about the joint achievements of both
companies in order to improve safety
culture and practice. The celebrations were
embedded in training courses, a safety
competition and other awareness
programs.

residential area in the city of Leuven, Belgium, as a smart sustainable
quarter. Tebodin is participating in development of the conceptual
design and business development of this future smart energy

concept into clear designs for all participating partner in this project.

and Asia for instance are pulling in the

construction materials producers.
The ever increasing economic

At present, Orgaworld is facing a rapidly
growing global demand for organic waste
treatment, resulting in interesting
opportunities across Europe and the
Americas for Orgaworld solutions such
as conversion of organic waste into
renewable biogas, heat, power and
green gas. An agile response to these
opportunities requires project teams to
come up with quick conceptual designs,
cost estimates and good visual
representations of the envisioned
developments. From there on the
pressure is on to come up with sound
basic designs to communicate a project’s
purpose to contractors and equipment
vendors, so that the challenging plans can
be realised in time.
Facing new challenges head on
With a view to facilitating this,
Orgaworld’s managing director Henk
Kaskens has asked Dennis Brand, office
director of Tebodin’s Velsen office, to
intensify the business relationship. This
included the creation of new overall
engineering management position at
Orgaworld, which has been filled by
Tebodin’s Peter Kruidering. He currently
oversees several project developments.
New challenging projects in Belgium and
Drachten are met ‘head on’ by the offices
in Eindhoven and Groningen, while the
Velsen office provides services for the
Amsterdam site. One of the tools that are
used to speed up the pace is
standardization, which is achieved
through Orgaworld and Tebodin working
closely together to exchange knowledge
and make sure the lessons learned from
the past are translated into the designs of

Keeping sites clean
The OHSE performances during the first
quarter of 2012 Mr. Sabeer Ali pointed
out: ‘A closer look at our reports of safety
interventions shows that there are three
areas in particular that require further
attention to reduce safety risks on sites
and in offices: housekeeping, working at
height, and using Personal Protective
Equipment.
In order to create a safe working
environment, we all need to take our
share in keeping sites clean, tidy and
organized. By the way, good
housekeeping promotes productivity –
all in all, it is a good indicator of the level
of professionalism in the work area.’
Tebodin safety tools
A significant amount of works are in
progress to continually improve OHSE
performance in Tebodin. To ensure that
everyone remains focused and alerted,
we have developed a range of tools as
part of our process-based OHSE
management system. Safety is everyone’s
responsibility; everyone needs to know
how to work safely and how to protect
the workers. The success of OHSE
performances is based on understanding
and applying the basic principles
uniformly in all our work places.
