WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA?
1. Social Media is an umbrella term for digital tools that let you share
information and network with others.
2. Individuals shift fluidly between the role of audience and authors.
3. Blogging, Twitter, Social Networks, Video Sharing, Photo Sharing,
Bookmarking, Chat Rooms, Forums, Podcasts, Wikis and Mobile Apps
are part of Social Media
4. Social Media began to normalise in 2008, becoming a standard part of
daily life.
5. Of the top 15 most visited sites in America, 8 are socially driven and all
15 use prominent social elements
6. Google, Yahoo , FB, Youtube, Myspace, Windows Live, Wikipedia,
Craiglist are some of the top most sites in the US.
7. Social Media ended centuries of seperation between mass media and
the masses
8. It also removed barriers that stood between businesses and their
potential customers.
