In this lesson you will learn why “loving one another” is so important for us as disciples. Jesus indicated that we would be known by the fact that we love one another (John 13.35). In the text, we learn that God is love and John gives us three reasons why we ought to love one another: 1) Love is of God; 2) We are born of God; and, 3) We know God.
13. God is love.
God sent his only Son into the world, so that we
might live through him.
(1 John 4:9, CB NT p. 423)
14. God is love.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only
Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14, CB NT p. 161)
15. God is love.
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent
forth his Son, born of woman, born under the
law, to redeem those who were under the law, so
that we might receive adoption as sons.
(Galatians 4:4-5, CB NT p. 331)
16. God is love.
Not that we have loved God
(1 John 4:10, CB NT p. 423)
17. God is love.
He loved us and sent his Son to be the
propitiation for our sins.
(1 John 4:10, CB NT p. 423)
18. God is love.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no
sin, so that in him we might become the
righteousness of God.
(2 Corinthians 5:21, CB NT p. 317)
