To date, most IT organizations spread database teams across both the application and infrastructure groups; however, greater attention to data is required to leverage this key strategic asset. As a vital aspect of a modern organization, data and database services must be allowed to stand alone as The Third Pillar of IT rather than resign it to remain an organizational step-child of applications or infrastructure.
