Are You Building A Website Or A Business_ (1)
1. Are You Building A Website Or A Business?
As I've been working with clients and talking to people in my network this week I've been thinking
about this a lot.
Sometimes the same topic keeps coming up for you and that's when you know it's time to investigate
it further and share it with your audience or tribe. (This is a top tip for you if you get stuck wondering
what to blog about by the way.)
No problem; you're welcome.
So back to the subject at hand; are you building a website or a business?
If you already have a business and are coming online to promote it then you're probably like... Well
doh of course I'm building a business.
If you started off in business using online strategies you may not be so clear on this.
Here are some things for you to think about and to let percolate around that wonderful mind of yours:
*Is the main purpose of your website to brand you, your services and products?
If so ask yourself - if I'm not in my business do I have a business? Don't worry if your answer to that is
a resounding 'no!'
Just begin to think creatively about how you can begin to remove yourself more from your business
as you develop and grow your online presence.
If you're a coach for instance, do you have a plan to package up your expertise into products and
programmes that do not require you to be physically 'working' all the time?
Have you created your 'signature system' that gives you options to trademark and licence your
method or coaching blueprint?
Do you have residual and recurring income or only bill by the hour?
*If you are focussed on promoting your website how can you increase your revenues?
Think about what you can provide in your niche that can be done by other people you outsource the
work to. You take a percentage and free up your time but it's a win-win for all parties = sweet.
Are people contacting you to ask if they can pay to advertise on your website? Are there people you
could contact to offer this opportunity to? (Of course, you need to be getting steady quality traffic to
your niche website for this to be an attractive offer.)
* Are you promoting affiliate products to monetize all your hard work even further?
* Have you an army of affiliates promoting your 'stuff?'
* Have you got 'stuff?' (Don't just promote other people's stuff...)
* If you own a website how can you develop your business model so that you have an exit plan i.e.;
can sell it when you've had enough OR pay someone else to run it for you?
Coaches, consultants, experts and rockstar personalities where YOU are the brand are most in
danger of working themselves into a glamourous 'job.'
I'm first in line for showing upcoming and established professionals and experts in their niche how to
get more clients online and all of that good stuff BUT...
it's important you also start to think long term because if you don't have a plan in place to turn your
2. 'website' into a business which owns cash producing assets you may just have yourself an internet
marketing job!
