CI 350 – Assure Method Assignment
A: Analyze Learner
The class being taught is made up of 17 first grade students, seven boys and ten girls. Some of these
students are special education students, seven of whom have ADHD. Seventy percent of these students
are white, twenty percent are African-American and ten percent are Hispanic.
S: State Objectives
The class will be able to recite the months of the year in order and understand the seasons and holidays
to which each month belongs with the help of songs, pictures, and games that require mental and
physical activities with 100 percent accuracy by the end of two weeks.
S: Select Methods, Media and Materials
Three methods will be used in order to accomplish a success rate of 100 percent in teaching this class
the months of the year. First, songs will be sung daily to help auditory learners with the order of the
months. Second, pictures will be hung throughout the classroom to aid visual learners with each
month’s characteristics. Third, a game where students use their birth month will be played.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
The goal of 100 percent accuracy will be attained through the use of several games, such as: Instructing
students to line up in the order of their birth month from January to December and having students
group together at different stations where they will describe the characteristics of the months in that
station (seasons, seasonal activities, etc.). Media used for the songs will be YouTube and/or a CD to play
the song to help students, especially auditory learners, sing along to.
R: Require Learner Participation
The class will participate in several games and the singing of songs being played via YouTube and/or CD.
Outside of class, students will be able to recite the songs and take home their personal copies of the
pictures of each month’s characteristics.
E: Evaluate and Revise
Prior to the beginning of the day I will confirm that all media is working properly and that all pictures
have been produced clearly. During the class I will be singing along with the students, lining up among
students in the birth month game and traveling about the classroom as students go to the different
sections of months. Student progress will be monitored throughout the lesson with records of progress
after each day. When I find that certain students are struggling, a modification to the lesson will be
made in order to maintain the goal of 100 percent accuracy.
