X ray rulers - an introduction to help you understand the tool
1. X-ray Rulers – An Introduction To Help You Understand The Tool
X-rays have been a part of the medical industry since a long time and they have completely revolutionised the
treatments available in the hands of doctors. The ability to look inside the human body non-invasively to determine
what is wrong with it actually provides the effective edge that has made modern medical science so effective. These
machines and its associated technology have increased our understanding of the human body in many ways.
And as you would have guessed, the technology is a lot more than an imaging machine that uses these rays to create
pictures of human bones. There are many aspects of it that are vital for making it work. X-ray rulers are the devices I
am referring to here.
The X-ray ruler is used to determine the width of tissue not imaged between the edge of the breast support table
and the imaged area. The ruler can be placed besides an item at the bucky to measure the size of the item or a
particle at the image. In case of Tomosynthesis, the ruler can easily be used to measure the coincidence of
reconstructed and irradiated volume. All in all, these tools are indispensible when it comes to using an X-ray machine
for any kind of body imaging.
X-ray rulers come with many different measurement ranges but the most commonly used and most popular type is
the one with a range of 5 cm to -5 cm and a resolution of 1 mm. These rulers are generally made of Epoxy and are
standard equipment in any medical setting. You can find most of them online.
