L’ensemble des disciplines, technologies et modèles commerciaux utilisés pour délivrer des capacités informatiques (logiciel, plateformes, matériel) comme un service à la demande
Office 365 is a continuously improving service focused on providing customers new features that delight users and improve the productivity experience, building a trusted service with high resiliency, harden against attacks, broader certifications and compliance breath, and responding to customer feedback. All of this provided with insights to help manage change to the service through customer communications and insight into upcoming changes. Segue to the what we’ve delivered slide: Before we look at new upcoming features we will walk through the process and types of changes in more detail. First Office 365 has already been operating with many of these principles since launched nearly two years ago…
Since we released Office 365 in 2011, we have followed our principle of continuous innovation to deliver features. Here is a small subset of features that have been shipped on monthly and quarterly basis to bring you great functionality like Exchange Hybrid configuration, 64 bit DirSync tool, Lync Mobile clients. We continued in this trend in 2012 to expand our capacity and availability into Office 365 for Government with the Government cloud. We heard customer feedback to add DirSync for Multi Forest, PDF support for SharePoint online and continued to invest in the cross platform experience. With the release of the New Office in February 2013, we look forward to bringing innovation to our customers continuously.
Waiting three to five years for new features is truly an expectation of the past. Users are familiar with frequent updates to their phones for both, the apps and the OS, and are demanding the same of their workplace. Office 365 updates monthly and quarterly, bringing new features and functionality on a regular cadence. Some features are aimed at the IT department, giving admins more tools to better manage their service, and other features are designed to delight and excite the users and ultimately help people get their best work done. Quarterly updates are more likely to include major changes and more significant improvements. The individual services, Office 365 ProPlus, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online are separate but highly federated services and thus ship their updates independently from one another. Monthly and quarterly updates: Office 365 thinks about updates in terms of the impact for the customer, both, from an end user and admin perspective, as either being minor or major. Some examples of typical monthly updates include bug fixes, security improvements, and incremental feature improvements. Quarterly updates may have a larger impact, because they enable a new scenario that wasn’t possible before, or change the user experience significantly. Quarterly updates may potentially require admins to take action of some kind, such as updating the MX record, which is communicated well in advance so that an organization has time to implement the change. The next slide explains how we help organizations consume these changes. ----Notes/Points from the old “Helps you stay current” slide:One of the largest cost savers in all of this is patching servers and the maintenance overhead that goes along with that, such as testing, transfers to Microsoft. You are always running on the latest services.Fewer disruptive breaks because of more incremental changes.Large monolithic upgrades become a relic of the past.
Key Point: Help answer the question “What is Microsoft BI” in terms of products and capabilities and tie it back to customer valueSlide Storyboard:Microsoft BI consists of a set of products that provide a complete and end to end set of BI capabilities. This can be simplified into three key areas:The first is about connectivity. It is important to recognize that Microsoft BI sits and works on a heterogeneous stack, it is not just about SQL Server or Oracle data sources, but about working with a wide array of data sources both structured, unstructured, internal and external. The second is a set of Enterprise Information Management (EIM) and BI Platform services like Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Integration Services, Master Data Services etc.… and SQL Server is considered the most widely deployed platform (40% unit share) for these platform services. The third is about tools that the end users use whether it is Excel Workbooks or PowerPivot Solutions or SharePoint Dashboards or Scorecards. These capabilities are delivered through the productivity and collaboration tools that customers are most familiar with and in most cases already have an use which is Office and SharePoint. So the simplified view of what is Microsoft BI boils down to the capabilities that you see on the left hand side and the products that deliver these capabilities on the right hand side.
