Improving governance of water increases opportunities for
sustainability, efficiency and equity in water and sanitation service
provision.
It also leads to more equal opportunities for stakeholder influence -
particularly for women and other marginalized groups.

The GoAL WaSH programme is a UNDP programme managed by the
Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). GoAL WaSH
contributes to the UNDP Water Vision:
To achieve climate resilient, sustainable and equitable management,
development and use of water and ocean resources, and universal access to
safe water supply and sanitation through improved water governance.

Preparation to implementation
Currently GoAL WaSH is moving from supporting the elaboration of policy
documents towards supporting the implementation of agreed policy
frameworks.
This includes support to decentralization, tariff setting methodologies,
supporting the regulatory functions, and capacity development at the
local level.
