We believe one thing - that together we create our community.
Our aim is simple: to globally bring people, businesses and charities together and help provide access to discrete volunteering opportunities with existing charitable and volunteer organisations and where people can volunteer with their friends. In short, helping make volunteering an easy, fun and social activity. These sorts of activities could support anything from child cancer research, to the local tennis club, to environmental causes, to efforts to assist the underprivileged etc etc. They are all important and they all make a difference!
Since our inception in September 2012 we have grown to have 21 Chapters in 8 countries and thus our growth has been significant but are just the first steps towards realising our vision of making volunteering a global norm!
2. Our Mission
Community Mates aims simply to bring people,
businesses and charities together.
Key Principles:
l Bring groups of people together who already know each other, be they friends,
colleagues or family (ie engage with an individual – Community Champion or Corporate
Champion – and have them source their peers for an event)
l Have people donate their time, not funds
l Have no ongoing requirement from volunteers, each event is stand alone and discrete
l Have no requirement for pre training or the like, each event is the volunteer’s only
donation of time

and anxiety at the A League
Beyond Blue Cup
4. Why?
We believe that we don’t
just live in our community,
we create it.
We believe that by donating one’s time
without expectation for something in return,
one can cultivate empathy, and that when
the two are combined with scale and scope
deep and lasting social change can be made.

6. To date
Significant time is invested in sourcing appropriate charities for Community Mates’ Community
Champions and volunteers.
To date, we have far more eager Community Champions than events but are greatly
encouraged by the significant demand shown.

9. Community Mates must aim to maintain a low risk profile
and its secularity so as to not isolate or discourage potential new
stakeholders, be they community organisations or participants

recently got together to sell
raffle tickets throughout the
Byron Bay Surf Festival - and
raised over $1500 for the
Disabled Surfers Association

Dubai Cares
Legacy Australia
Disabled Surfers
Dubai Cares works in countries
with chronic deficiencies in primary
education where it implements
development programs that target
the underlying causes preventing
children from accessing quality primary
education. Comprehensive in scope,
the philanthropic organization’s primary
education programs integrate four key
components: School Infrastructure;
School Health & Nutrition; Water,
Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) in Schools;
and Quality of Education.
Legacy is a charity providing services to
Australian families suffering financially
and socially after the incapacitation or
death of a spouse or parent, during or
after their defence force service. We
currently care for 100,000 widows and
1,900 children and disabled dependants
throughout Australia.
The Disabled Surfers Association was
established in 1986 Many surfers with
disabilities have unfortunately, been
loners with no one to help them get
back into the water.

http://www.legacy.com.au/
Many suffer from disabilities that the
general public would not consider
a disability. From asthmatics to joint
injuries to paraplegic, many members
have found friendship, support and have
renewed their interest in surfing.
