Certification Body Selection
• Like any good project – you define the end right at the
beginning
– So we find a certification body and we pick firm audit dates
– Plan the celebration and plan the marketing
• Knowledge of many/all certification bodies
• Knowledge of many of their auditors
• Focus on:
– Accreditation (IAF)
– Inexpensive (it’s the same ISO – really!)
– Good customer service (less tangible)
– Good Auditors (less tangible)

System Design and
Documentation
• Interview process managers and employees
– Limited time commitment from all personnel involved
– No expertise required – except how they do their job
• Documents are based around the organization not ISO
– “Tweak” existing processes where needed
• Write at a consistent level, style and approach.
• Provide support with new processes or where there are significant
gaps. Define low maintenance, business focused processes.
• Practical, easy to understand, low maintenance, value-adding
processes……that happen to meet ISO

Document Review,
Modification and Finalization

  1. While there are many ways to do an ISO project, we have a formal, established process that we have been successfully using for over 25 years
  2. Our implementation process contains a number of key steps. This overview is general in nature and the timescale is adapted to each situation. Typically we complete projects in 4-6 months. Sooner than that is possible but the pressure is on you. Much ore than 6 months and momentum is lost.
  3. The first step is project planning. We conduct an on-site kick-off meeting to perform introductions, explain the project and meet the key players. It is informal and no preparation is necessary. We assess the whole organization so that we understand the processes and management system and how it cross-references with ISOA formal project plan is produced defining all of the documents to be created and activities to be completed.
  4. We commit early to a goal of a firm certification date. This is absolutely essential to a quick and effective project. We are familiar with the options available to you and guide you in choosing the best certification body for your needs.
  5. System design is the most critical part of the project. Done badly you end up with procedures that don’t reflect what you do and will cause harm to your business. We interview process managers and employees and document processes as they exist. We make ISO fit those processes – not the other way round. We are professional writers and provide documents at a consistent level, style and approach. Support is provided as needed to make sure everyone understands what is being documented.We define your processes so they are easy to understand, simple to maintain and drive achievement of process and business goals.
  6. All procedures are reviewed and modified as necessary. They are owned by the process managers and they ultimately review and approve them. Throughout the document development process we produce a Document Review report. Any gaps are fixed but this proves your documents meet ISO.At the end of this stage you have a full set of documents that describe how your organization is managed. They are meaningful and useful for training and auditing. They also meet ISO
  7. ISO training is not mandatory in ISO but common sense says you need to make sure everyone is aware of what is going on. We explain the project and point out what happens at assessmentWe also provide the materials so you can continue this training as needed internally.

If we are lucky then the implementation was substantially based on what you already do (we made ISO fit you not change you to meet ISO) – so implementation is easy.
