In 2015, the Bush Center (part of the Bush Library in Dallas, Texas) contacted me to design a brochure for their leadership graduation program. The program consists of a diverse group of career-level professionals learning committed to facing society's changes.
The program consists of a bipartisan roaster from four presidential libraries (two Republican, two Democratic) who helped guide scholars through the program.

Presidential Leadership Scholars

“In AMERICA today, it's easy to find something to disagree about. A country as RICHLY
DIVERSE as ours will never suffer for a shortage of opinions. But to harness the
POWER of those disagreements,we need something that's much more difficult to find:the
DETERMINATION and LEADERSHIP required to bridge the differences that separate
our citizens. The future will be owned by LEADERS who are willing to engage in the
important job of coming together to find real solutions.”
3. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Presidential Leadership Scholars program is a
partnership among the Presidential Centers of George W.
Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon
B. Johnson and is designed for mid-career leaders from
diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to helping
solve society’s greatest challenges.
Participants connect with some of the best minds in
the study of leadership and benefit from the assets of
Presidential Centers and insights of the former Presidents
and people who served with them.
5. THE EXPERIENCE
The six-month executive education-style program takes scholars to each
participating Presidential Center to study and put into practice varying
approaches to leadership. Scholars learn from the former Presidents, key
administration officials, and leading practitioners. They further hone their
leadership abilities through interactions with mentors, a vibrant network of peers,
and others who can help them make a greater impact in their communities.
At each Presidential Center, sessions focus
on a specific core leadership ability that is
illustrative of the many competencies of
that President. The curriculum draws from
the resources of each Presidential Center
that relate to key moments from each
administration, and provides insights from
how each President addressed pressing
challenges. It also incorporates in-depth
analyses of how leaders across all sectors
address similar types of challenges.
During the program, Scholars work on
their own personal leadership projects
aimed at improving the civic or social
good by addressing a problem or need in
a community, profession, or organization.
Through programs that accomplish things like improving our Nation’s schools,
supporting transitioning members of the military, bringing poverty relief to
communities around the globe, or implementing practical business solutions to
enhance public and private partnerships, these projects leverage the Scholars’
existing knowledge and experience with the skills and competencies learned
throughout the program to produce exceptional results.

7. THE SCHOLARS
The Presidential Leadership Scholars program is for
individuals across a variety of sectors—private, public,
non-profit organizations, the military—who have the
skills, values, and motivation to lead on a higher level.
They are people who have a desire and capacity to use
their leadership skills in order to help their communities,
the country, and the world. Experienced professionals in
positions of influence who have demonstrated previous
leadership, Scholars are civically minded, willing to take
feedback, willing to work with others, and committed to
giving back over their lifetimes.
