Hungary declared war on
Serbia.

4. The Schlieffen Plan
It was a way to
confront a two way
war.
Germany wanted
to try to take out
France in 6 weeks,
then Russia the
next 6 weeks.
5. Total War
Total War is when everyone in the
country is fighting for the war that is
happening
Trench warfare is when the army dug
trenches to stand/lay in to attack
their enemies.
Stalemate refers to Trench warfare in
WWI. Both sides used this style, but
neither side was wining or loosing.
6. Key Battles
1st Marne: 5-12 September 1914,German army advancing through
Belgium and northern France, it caused panic in the French Army who
rushed from Paris to halt attack and the Germans were stopped.
2nd Marne: July 15th, 1918, The Germans pushing again, attacked the
French Army. On 20th July the Germans began to withdraw, back to
ware they had began.
Gallipoli: on the peninsula of Gallipoli, turks and alliess, turks won,
considered one of the greatest victories of the turks and huge failures
of the allies
Somme: On the Somme River France battled Germany. The Allies
won, but it was a major loss for both sides
Verdun: Verdun-ser-meuse, Germany against France,and France won.
It is known as the greatest battle and lengthiest war in WWI
7. Bolshevik Revolution
The Bolshevik Revolution was the
overthrow of the Russian government,
which took place in the fall of 1917, on
October 25th.
It weakened the Russian part in the
battle because people didn’t want to
support the war, and the government
needed to drop out and control their
our country.
8. US entry into the War
Two reasons why the US entered the
war were, the sinking of the
Lusitania, and pressure from worried
citizens.
