elements
• As little as 20–30 g (one ounce) exists at any
given time throughout the Earth’s crust.

• Francium (Eka-caesium)
was discovered in 1939 by
Marguerite Perey of the
Curie Institute in Paris,
France
• This element existence was
predicted by Mendeleev
during the 1870's, he called
it eka-caesium.

6. Isotopes
• There are 34 identified Francium isotopes.
• There are no stable isotopes of Francium.
• Francium-223 is the most stable isotope with a
half-life of 21.8 minutes
• The least stable ground state isotope is
francium-215, with a half-life of 0.12 "s.
• All isotopes of Francium decay into either
astatine, radium, or radon.
