Creepin' Facism
1. Fascism
• The idea to destroy the will of the individual in the favor of "the
people". Wanted a unified society, but wasn't concerned with
eliminating private property or class distinctions. Pushed for extreme
right-wing nationalism.
2. Benito Mussolini
• Founder and leader of the National Fascist Party in Italy. Demanded
that King Victor Emmanuel III named him Prime Minister.
3. Weimar Republic
• A fairly conservative democratic republic in Germany after WWI.
4. National Socialist Party (Nazis)
• Dominated party in German government with Adolf Hitler as their
leader.
6. Adolf Hitler
• Head of the Nazi Party. Convinced that the Aryan race was the most
highly evolved race, and inferior races, such as Slavs and Jews, had
"corrupted" the German race. Argued that Jews should be deported
(later eliminated) and that Germans should take over Europe.
8. General Francisco Franco
• Military leader that installed a dictatorship in Spain with the help of
nationalists (Germany and Italy), and managed to keep Spain neutral
during WWII.
9. Rhineland
• A region west of the Rhine River that had been taken away from
Germany after WWI in the Treaty of Versailles.
10. Munich Conference of 1938
• Conference between Hitler, Mussolini, and Prime Minister Neville
Chamberlain of England that gave Hitler Sudetenland in return for the
promise Hitler would cease his expansionist activities.
11. Appeasement
• A diplomatic policy of making political or material concessions to an
enemy power in order to avoid conflict.
12. Nazi-Soviet Pact
• Stalin and Hitler agreed that Germany would not invade the Soviet
Union if Soviets stayed out of Germany's military affairs. Also, the two
determined how E. Europe would be divided among them.

13. Non-Aggression Pact of 1939
• Britain and France signing a pact with Greece, Turkey, and Poland that
provided if any one of them were attacked, they'd all go to war.
