The Round Lake Area Park District board typically meets twice a month to discuss park matters. The board is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles through recreation. The park district was the first in Illinois to receive state accreditation for meeting high standards in park operations and management. An indoor egg hunt is scheduled for spring as the weather remains unpredictable. New playground equipment has been installed at Meadowview Park. Old equipment is donated and rebuilt in other countries through a program called Kids Around the World. Golf season passes for 2016 at Renwood Golf Course are now available.

THE PARK BOARD
Mission Statement – Commited to promote healthy lifestyles through recreational programs, facilities and open spaces.
DISTINGUISHED AGENCY
The Round Lake Area Park District became the
first ever state accredited agency with the Illinois
Joint Distinguished Parks and Recreation Agency
Program. This program utilizes a total of 157 stan-
dards with 372 evidences of compliances in six
sections of agency operation and management. In
the past, only 36 of 350 park districts, parks and
recreational departments and forest preserves held
that distinction.
Dear Neighbors,
It’s springtime, and for many of us, that means getting back
outside to enjoy the activities we love. As residents of the
Chicagoland area, though, we all know that the calendar and the
weather don’t always agree.
One of our favorite spring activities is the Round Lake Area Park
District Spring Egg Scramble! But don’t worry, this version is in-
doors while the weather is still unpredictable. Kids, ages 3-8,
are welcome, and will be grouped according to age to ensure
everyone gets plenty of treats. Whether you’re new to the area
or new to the Park District and you haven’t been to one, believe
me, you won’t want to miss it!
Have you noticed something different at Meadowview Park? If
you haven’t been by to see it yet, the playground equipment
is all new! Every 10-15 years, we replace the equipment to
keep our playgrounds updated, safe and relevant. You might be
wondering where the old equipment goes. We donate it! The
pieces are carefully disassembled, refurbished, and reassem-
bled in impoverished countries, as well as in countries that have
been affected by natural disasters. The program is called Kids
Around The World. I invite you to look over their website (www.
kidsaroundtheworld.com) and see the playgrounds they have
helped relocate since 1994. We’re just hoping the kids who re-
ceive the equipment will enjoy it as much as our kids have for
the past 15 years.
Last, but certainly not least, it’s never too early to get your
2016 Renwood Golf Course season passes. Just because the
weather isn’t always cooperating, doesn’t mean you can’t start
gearing up now.
