Our ACA partnerships can be put into three, at times overlapping categories
One of our local policy partners – Health & Disabilities Advocates – received a small amount of funding to create a website where you can click on a county, or region of the state to get some high level aggregated census information about eligibility for coverage under the ACA. In this screen shot, I ’ve highlighted the numbers for Chicago in red. While this site has been widely appreciated locally, from a public health perspective we were left asking, “so what?” What was this information really telling us, and more importantly, how could it be used to inform ACA implementation? Our partners understood our position, but to be fair, had met their goal by creating the website, and lacked the resources to do more. However, they did share our interest in getting more out of the data.
Map overall uninsured to target enrollment efforts, but also do the same for specific populations where unique strategies for outreach may prove fruitful. For example, on the two chart on the right focus exclusively on SNAP recipients. So we know that 41% of SNAP recipients in Chicago are uninsured. Work with FSS to enroll.
