This is one of the topics for the All India Students' conference on Science and Spiritual Quest to be held in February 2014. I was supposed to submit the paper for this which i prepared but got delayed and so its not accepted . i have submitted two papers. One is this which is rejected due to delay. ABSTRACT
Life is being at ease while matter is being at disease. Matter appears lively to
someone who experiences matter as living with ease. Matter is an effect of
minding. When the being is at ease there is no minding, no resistance, no
question. Life happens here. This is what the Vedic Wisdoms have been
preaching. Modern Science is inquisitive. It begins with minding and that’s why
its material. The ultimate reality, modern science can define and reproduce is at
material level where being is at disease. And that’s why we see a growing
distance between nature and life with the growth of modern science. And so the
modern science defines life as growth. It’s quantitative. So it “expects the origin” of
life. And the expectation again is quantitative, i.e a structure giving rise to similar
structure. Since quantity is always driven by cause and effect, i.e purpose, the
modern science has been trying to comprehend the real purpose of life. Being at
ease is qualitative. And so spiritual science defines life, as a space of higher
possibility which happens only through realization. To realise is the only purpose
and origin of life. This difference in fundamentals is what modern science needs.
1. Introduction
First we shall look into the understandings and expectation of origin by
Science and Spirituality. Next we shall look into what is purpose of life, and how is
it is looked upon by science and spirituality. Then we look into life and its
understanding as it exists and then as understood by science and spirituality.

2.Origin of life – Expectation of Science and Spirituality
This is something which is quested upon by the scientists of science and
spirituality eternally. The science expects to find the secret of origin of life as the
projection/effect in the outer world, the physical living world while the spiritual
scientist expects to find it as the cause in the inner world. Both have a clear
understanding that they are suppose to get the infinite abundance back to a point.
And this point is common to both science and spirituality as shown in the figure.1

The spiritual path thrives on experiencing the state while the scientific path thrives
on knowledge from the experience. And that is why the scientist on the spiritual
path understands that there is infinite experiencing and

It may appear surprising because the entire investment which includes manpower,
intelligence, infrastructure, energy resources, information and natural resources
used by modern science is few billion if not trillion times more than that spent on
spirituality. Inspite of this it has achieved only quantitative progress. In terms of
qualitative progress it is still behind the nature. While spiritual solutions are
beyond nature inspite of suffering so much of suppression. If we explore the
reason for this we come across Purpose as the prime factor. Life is an activism,

Life happens here. Modern science with its current approach cannot comprehend
and reproduce that artistic sense. But spirituality can. This is again caused due to
the difference in the very understanding of life.
4. Life and Matter

as living with ease. The deity worship in Hindu temples in
one of the best examples whose abnormal behavior is still remains unexplored by
the modern science.
Even matter, when subjected to temperature change, emotions, pressure etc ,
experiences it and responds with change and thus it experiences just like living
beings do. In his book called “Message from Water” Dr:Masaru Emoto has proved
how thoughts effect the water and alter its very crystalline structure and how
water stores, carries and transmits these thoughts through natural intelligence.

research its proven how space has the intelligence to actually take the information
from the material universe We already have the concept of artificial intelligence
too becoming a material reality in the current modern world.
But the power to realise does not exist with the matter which is what differentiates
matter from life. Intelligence whether natural or artificial can at the most respond.
But the ability to realize is what differentiates the live from the lifeless.

We already have the concept of artificial intelligence too becoming a material
reality in the current modern world.
But the power to realise does not exists with the matter which is what
differentiates matter from life. Intelligence whether natural or artificial can at the
most respond. But the ability to realize is what differentiates the live from the
lifeless.
We are able to produce various species through genetic engineering which are
able to survive even in the worst conditions. We have even human cloning
possible . But that is not life. That’s intelligence. But this is identified as life by
modern science as the ultimate expression of life.
While when it comes to spiritual science only a being which can realise is
considered to have life. We may wonder what is the difference .
5.Approach of Science and Spirituality to Life
Today modern science changed the definition of life as growth. It’s
quantitative. So it “expects the origin” of life. And the expectation again is
quantitative, i.e a structure giving rise to similar structure. Since quantity is always
driven by minding cause and effect, i.e purpose. The problem is - once the
purpose is solved then quantification has to be relaxed, which implies the
slowdown of growth which is what is termed as population control for human
beings. And that’s against the very natural law. So with the understanding of life
as quantitative growth today the very natural laws which were solutions appear a

distance between nature and life with the growth of modern science.

eternal expansion and abundance. Abundance in spirituality has to do with variety.
It is qualitative. For science abundance is quantitative. It is this difference in the
very fundamentals which prevents science from being able to comprehend the
origin and purpose of life.
6.Comparitive Analysis and Conclusion
The table in the figure.3,below gives a summary of the approach of science and
spirituality .And it’s a change at the fundamental level which has to be realized by
the current modern scientist to comprehend the origin and purpoe of life.
