Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning
Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology
improvements, develop professional development activities that include the following:
• Reference analysis and lessons learned about the technology needs from the Week 3
report;
• Addresses professional development designed to improve the gathering, analysis and use
of data from a variety of sources;
• Includes professional development to improve decision making in the integration of
technology with instructional and organizational leadership.
Goal:
The Campus Improvement Plan states that we will use technology as a resource to assist in
differentiating instruction. We will use DBA scores, administrative walk throughs, lesson
plan check, and student class assessments in core subjects to evaluate and monitor
implementation and effectiveness of utilization.
STaR Chart Summary
Our two lowest averages over the 3 year period were Teaching and Learning and Educator
Preparation. Although these were our lowest scores they still fell in the Advanced Tech range. In
the Statewide summary it states that technology is integrated in core curriculum instruction. I
would agree with this to a certain degree. Most of the technology we use is integrated with the
core curriculum, but it is not done often enough. Administrators do recognize technology usage
in the building. However, there is not time allotted for on-going professional development.
Based on the above references I have planned the following professional development activities:
1. PLC teams will generate ideas by grade level to integrate technology into instruction for
core subjects to incorporate methods of instruction which meet the needs of different
levels of learners.
2. Instruction on utilizing programs that can be used in the classroom for meeting the needs
of differentiated learning styles.
3. IT Specialist and Instructional Coaches will develop a list and share with classroom
teachers, of websites and accessible software programs that help differentiate instruction
through the integration of technology.
4. Instructional Coaches will instruct and model the format that will be used in campus
lesson plans to exhibit differentiated instruction utilizing technology into the instruction
of core subjects.
