 Catalonia is an
European country in
the western
Mediterranean.
 In Catalonia, Catalan
is spoken.
 It has got about 7
million inhabitants and
its capital is Barcelona.

 Catalonia is divided into four provinces.

 It is red and yellow.
 The flag’s legend talks about a hero called Guifré
el Pilós who was wounded by King Lluís.
 The four bars are from the four fingers of Guifré
el Pilós’s hand.

11. LES GARRIGUES
 Where is it?
 Les Garrigues is located in the west of Catalonia and
belongs to the province of Lleida.

12. VILLAGES
 The villages of the region are small. Les
Garrigues has got 24 villages.
 The capital of les Garrigues is les Borges
Blanques.
 Most of the houses are for single families.
 In les Garrigues, there are typical constructions
which are made of stone. They are called “cabana
de volta” and “aljubs”.

13. WEATHER
 In our area the climate is continental
Mediterranean dry with little precipitation,
giving the maximum in spring and autumn and
minimum in winter and summer.
 As for temperature, winters are cold, (mainly
because of persistent fog), and the summers are
very hot.
 Fog is the weather phenomenon which
predominates in the region.

14. ECONOMY
 Our district is agricultural and the main crop is
Arbequina olives trees.
 It also grows the almond tree and grapes.

15. FESTIVITIES
 Each town holds its festival. The most
representative actions are encounters of giants
and devils. This festival is called “Festa Major”

16. FESTIVITIES
 In les Borges Blanques we celebrate the Fair of
the oil.

17. PRODUCTS
 The typical products of the region are:
 Oil
 Bread kidney: pa de ronyó
 Nuts
 Honey

18. TYPICAL FOOD
 The typical food in Catalonia is bread with
tomato dipping oil.
 Snails

19. OUR SCHOOL
 This school is private school.
 There are kindgarden, nursery, primary and
secondary.

20. NURSERY
 The nursery is on the top of les Borges Blanques.
 There are a small playground, a multipurpose
room, and dining room.
 There are: P1,P2,P3,P4 and P5.

21. PRIMARY
 Some years before we were in the old building.
But now, we are in the new one.
 There are six rooms. Under the rooms there is an
indoor playground with four baskets.

22. SECONDARY
 They are the oldest students in the school .
 There are four classes with two rooms A
and B.
 The 1st classes are in the cloister.
 The 2nd classes are next to the playgrounds.
 The 3rd and the 4th classrooms are on the 1st
classrooms.

23. OTHER ROOMS
 In the school there are 2 ICT rooms with
interactive boards.
