This document discusses a community citizenship ceremony held at the University of Winnipeg in 2010. It was organized by the Institute for Canadian Citizenship, a non-profit founded to properly welcome new citizens and have them share their hopes before being sworn in. The ceremony included participation from Red River College, the Manitoba Human Rights Commission, and other cultural organizations, and celebrated Canada's encouragement of immigrants to become citizens and share their cultures.

 ICC has branches across Canada. It holds
citizenship ceremonies in the community.

immigrants to take that step so that they can
participate fully in Canadian life. Canada
stands out from the pack because it
encourages immigrants to share their culture
with the rest of Canada so that we can all be
