oTrended data to see what could have caused the explosion (feed left
recirculating in an “OFF” dryer, feed got dryer and dryer and caused explosion
when dryer was “STARTED”)
oDeveloped safety interlock and control narrative changes to ensure dryer slide
gate is open (and no feed is remaining in dryer) when Dryer is OFF
oOversaw rebuild of conveyors and exhaust fans
oAssisted in removal of feed in large heat exchanger duct work
-Shift supervisor (Duration: 8 months)
oSafely worked with a shift of 10 operators on rotating 12 hour shift
oCompleted stretches, safety moments, and work reviews before each shift with
operations crew
oCompleted Job Cycle Checks, Rail Audits, Behavioral Observation Reports, and
Fire Impairments when needed on shift
oOversaw entire Feed House production (Fiber, gluten, and germ slurry to
product loadout)
oWorked with other department supervisors to balance grind demand and plant
water load
oDeveloped pellet mill wench system with operators for safe removal of pellet

Collected weekly Biogas sampling for Green House Gas Emissions

Rapids Complex
- Organized Environmental Stewardship projects for Cedar Rapids Complex
- Completed Tier II Reporting, Title V Tracking, and Waste Material Tracking for Cedar
Rapids Complex
- Ensured an Emergency Action Plan was up to date and compliant with regulations
- Ensured Waste Water Treatment Plant was in compliance with the regulations set by the
city of Cedar Rapids
Projects Engineer August 2013 until February 2014
- Wrote AFE for #3 Biotatron Structural Steel replacement
oWorked with vendors to determine best material for waste water vapor setting
oWorked with PE to ensure design was in accordance with code
oDeveloped timelines for 3 different contractor groups and cranes operators
oBarricaded area and used good communication with Waste Treatment
Operations while construction was occurring
- Wrote AFE for asbestos removal on Mill and Elevator roof and siding
oWorked with abatement company to determine best practice for removing
panels over busy work area
oDetermined grind plan with Plant Superintendent and Merchandisers while
Elevator was down and the plant was unable to receive corn

utilizing bird netting

oLed analysis of MCC Clearance study
oDetermined grind plan based on what-if Transformer XX went down scenarios
oResearched open MCC buckets and if those could be utilized to better balance
grind and clearance issues
Fructose Engineer February 2014 until Present
Ammonia Tank Removal Project
- Collaborated with Cogeneration Engineer to remove anhydrous ammonia tank from the Wet
Mill Fructose Department
oDeveloped control narrative to receive 25% aqueous ammonia from
Cogeneration facility
oChecked interlocks and completed toolbox to ensure operations was able to
make-up aqueous ammonia
oPurged anhydrous ammonia tank and lines multiple times to reduce anhydrous
ammonia concentration
oInvestigated Hot Work Permit requirements to cut on an anhydrous ammonia
tank and obtained appropriate signatures
oUpdated existing equipment specific lockout procedure and P&IDs for process
Ultra-Filtration Study
- Completed data collection to determine filtration cost and look for operational cost
opportunities in CSU manufacturing
oStudied total cost of membrane replacements, cost and amounts of Ultra
Filter Regenerations, and total operational costs
oDetermined opportunities moving forward while working with pipeline

Acid Scrubber Replacement
- Worked with scrubber manufacturer to get model and quote
- Communicated with Linn County for permit variance while scrubber was installed
- Developed safe work plan with contractors replacing the scrubber to minimize chemical
hazards
- Correctly disposed of old scrubber and packing
Chemical Unload Fall Protection Platform
- Discussed need of a fall protection platform for truck drivers delivering chemicals to the
Fructose Department
- Collected quotes and wrote AFE for project
- Scheduled chemical unload downtime for pouring footings and erecting platform
- Created toolbox for chemical unload operators to share with chemical truck drivers
Fractionation Study and Upgrade
- Completed many profiles of Fractionation system to optimize 90% Fructose operation
- Sampled resin to share with Dow to determine age and quality of resin beads
- Worked with Research and Development to brainstorm water reduction versus water
saturation qualities for better recovery
- Assisted in managing Fractionator internal rebuild and resin backwashing
