1. Most of the time, people declare to be aware of the catastrophic consequences
global warming are provoking, but there is a big difference between knowing and
doing something about it.
Al Gore presents a series of scientific facts and images, which hit us in the face
by the time they get closer to the present time, and gives us very strong
arguments in relation to this matter. Some say that a picture speaks for itself,
and this is a good example of that. Gore’s ability to public speaking is one of the
best tools used in his presentations.
I think we are completely responsible for what it is happening, even if we think
that our footprint means nothing when compared to the industrial contribution to
global warming that is just one aspect of our responsibility because in fact, we
are the ones who choose our representatives which make decisions for us. So, if
we think about it we are very responsible for what our industries and big
contaminators do, because we let them do so.
It is alarming how many animals we are killing and how much we contribute to
increase the amount of ecological niches which already exist; there are so many
animals trying to find a new place to live in due to the disappearance of their
natural environment. We alter the balance of nature at an uncontrollable speed
and it seems so be correct do to so, like if we needed it so much and there were
no other options to get what we need.
I have to say that global warming is a relevant issue for me because I have always
criticized how disrespectful we treat out Mother Nature and the horrible
consequences it will bring us if we do not change, and whenever this topic
is discussed, it always comes to my mind the Chief Seattle’s letter he sent
to the American president in response to the latter’s offer to buy their
lands. It is about how uncomfortable he feels when thinking about selling
something which they respect so much and do not own.
I think there is no need to be a ‘hippie’ to understand the graves consequences
we are forced to face because of the mistakes we have been making and
continue to make.
