1. Double Line Partners’ Early Learning Dashboards
Problem Statement
Building on their success with the K-12 Insight dashboards, Delaware sought to expand the reach of
powerful data in the hands of educators. Knowing that student’s learning experiences begins from birth,
Delaware sought to build a dashboard for early educators to align with the goals of the newly created
Office of Early Learning. Rather than create a new tool, Delaware turned to Double Line Partners to
extend the existing reporting tools to include program effectiveness outcomes aligned with the initiative’s
strategic goals, and the results of an Early Learner Survey that will inform K-3rd grade teachers upon a
child’s entrance in school.
Double Line’s Vision
In partnership with MSDF, Double Line is working to build out the Ed-Fi schema to incorporate
comprehensive early childhood data. As part of the Ed-Fi core, the early childhood elements will allow
states across the country to build a birth to graduation data warehouse. This aligned data will be used to
power early learning dashboards designed to spotlight data relevant to early educators and Kindergarten-
3rd grade teachers.
Future Work
Double Line seeks to support other states in building early learning dashboards to maximize the impact of
the new Ed-Fi early childhood schema and to ensure that all states the best, most comprehensive data on
students. With a holistic picture of student data from enrollment in early learning programs, educators
will have a more complete view of students and can ensure that all children get the high quality learning
they deserve.
