Authority and responsibility is devolving to the local level
Policies that are in place/under development include:
Right-Sizing the State Highway System
Development of Minimum State Standards for Growth Management
One of the key issues for the Community Development and
Enhancement Advisory Council to consider is developing a
template for a local comprehensive plan
- Vision/Goals - Land Use - Infrastructure (all types)
- Complete Streets - Landscaping/Streetscaping Standards
- Sign Ordinances - Architectural Themes/Standards
Communities will have to decide what they want, what they
are willing to regulate, and what they are willing to pay for
11. Wh at’ s at s take ?
The policies, programs, and projects in the Louisiana
Statewide Transportation Plan are intended to:
Support the wealth-building industries and employment that
we already have;
Strengthen our foundation for economic growth;
Take advantage of opportunities in international trade;
Enhance the quality of life for Louisiana citizens; and
Send the message that our state is progressive.
Hinweis der Redaktion
As I mentioned before, what we will be doing is looking at the status of the recommendations, updating costs and taking a look at one specific technical issue – the feasibility of widening 1-10 or the upgrading of US 190.
