§ Yes, there is SOME overlap. We simply ran JOB Run Reports.
§ BUT…….
– Each product is designed with different but related goals
– CA WLA iDash has great features and Reporting ability
– The new, SP4, Level of CA WLA AutoSys (WCC) has features to add to
your CA WLA iDash experience
§ Let’s examine some general areas…

“Complementary” Areas
§ LATENCY / PERFORMANCE diagnosis
§ “FLOWS” (you know.. Charts!)
§ REPORTING ( a huge function )

“LATENCY / PERFORMANCE”
Server Stats Report:
§ Good, quick way to view overall CA AutoSys
Performance
§ Start getting clues to any ‘bottle necks’
§ As Admin, you can say:
– “yes, we had some LATENCY” 2 hours ago!
– “no, things look OK” (meaning other factors – network, etc)
§ Either way, you will look GOOD ( a Hero again?)

§ You see a ‘spike’ where there is Latency
§ Start getting clues to any ‘bottle necks’
§ To delve further, go into CA WLA AutoSys (SP4+)!
– look at the Server Stats via “Throughput” Report
§ Try to pinpoint individual MACHINES

– CA WLA iDash helps you see what MUST run to read a deadline
– CA WLA AutoSys gives you the FULL view, all inter-dependencies

REPORTING:
§ First of all, CA WLA iDash is DESIGNED to provide Reports
– INTERACTIVELY (via GUI)
– Batch Mode (Command Line Interface, “CLI”)
– (this is covered in other sessions for CA WLA iDash)
§ But what gives CA WLA AutoSys this new Reporting feature?
– Something called..
– “THE ALLIGATOR” !!

THE ALLIGATOR” !!????!!
§ No….it’s called
§ The “AGGREGATOR”
– not new to CA AutoSys
– you can run the ‘aggregator’ command even in Release 11.0!
– But you do it Manually or via a Scheduled job (for example)
§ Runs AUTOMATICALLY as of SP4 and higher!

AGGREGATOR:
§ Look in path $AUTOUSER/out on the WAAE server
§ (same path where event_demon.ACE files are located)
§ You will see…..

Automatic aggregation of Stats empowers the
REPORTS (Templates) provided in SP4 and higher
