How to Stop Wastage of Water At Home
 Water we all know is precious. We all need water and we are all

depended upon water to thrive upon.
 It’s a natural resource that every living being needs to survive, and
so it’s our responsibility to conserve water for the future.
 We can’t stop the usage of water but we can stop water from

getting wasted. Here are some common and simple facts that
highlight the importance of water and simple tips to prevent the
wastage of water – thereby saving us huge toll on our savings which
in-turn protects our planet too.
Of the worlds entire water - Only 1% is available for drinking,
97% of it is salty & 2 % of it is Frozen.
Human Body is of 75% water.
An average person needs to drink about 2 ½ liters of water every day.
A person can live for a month without food, but without water he may last
not more than 5 to 7 days.
 Never leave the water running while brushing your teeth or shaving.
 Get into practice of turning off water when not in use – turn it back ON only in
time of need.
 Use a Cup filled with water while shaving / Brushing / Washing Face
More than 27% of water used indoor are used up for Showering.
An average 5 minutes shower bath uses 15-25 gallons of water.
A Leaky tap would waste 100 gallons of water a day, but you could
save huge on your pockets & the environment by simply fixing it.
 Avoid Unnecessary usage of Toilet Flush – Each Flush uses up to 7 gallons of
water.
 Control your Flush with the Liver
Never leave the lever completely pressed on if your flushing needs are less.
Have a practice of – lifting the Flush liver up, when the flushing is done.
Check for leaks regularly – Fix maybe replacing a worn-out rubber bush.
 Use a Thrash - To dispose of insects or Tissues
Use a Bowl – To clean fruits and Vegetables, rather than running water over
them. Further the water in the cleaning bowl can be reused for watering plants.
 A Dishwasher uses up 9 to 12 gallons of water and Manual hand washing of
dishes uses up to 20 gallons each time.
 Run your Dishwasher and Washing Machines only on full load, by which you
can save 1000 gallons of water each month.
 Water plants early in the morning when the temperature and wind speed are
low; this could reduce loss of water through evaporation.
 This will help plants dry-off by night, preventing them from acquiring fungus
and other disease caused by dampness retaining in its root.
Watering plants heavily once in a while (when the soil is dry), will
help save water and encourages plants to develop strong roots
rather than lightly watering more often.
 Use Soap & water from a bucket.
 Use hose fitted with shut-off nozzle.
 Use a hose only for rinsing the soap off & inaccessible areas.
Use a Broom instead of hose while cleaning leaves and debris, as it
could save big for you.
