or anywhere using Overdrive!

Library for libraries that are part of the Merrimack
Valley Library Consortium (MVLC.)
But the directions work the same way for any library
that uses Overdrive, including all of these and more!

3. Let’s
start!

4. Connect your Nook to your computer using a USB cord.

5. If you’ve already installed Adobe
Digital Editions…
…please skip to Slide 19!

6. If not, please keep reading!
For the next 12 slides, we’re going to show you how
to install Adobe Digital Editions. This is a bit of a
pain, but only needs to happen once.
(Plus, you need it!)

7. Go to MVLC’s Overdrive page at mvlc.lib.overdrive.com.

8. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Software.

9. On the Software page, click Adobe Digital Editions.

10. When the Adobe website opens, click Download Now.

11. Download the right version for your computer.

12. Open the downloaded file.
It will be located in your Downloads folder.

13. Click Run to install.

14. Follow the instructions as they appear.

15. Once it’s been installed, open Adobe Digital Editions.

16. If you aren’t prompted, open the Help menu and
select Authorize Computer…

17. Enter your Adobe ID and password and click
Authorize.

18. If you don’t have an Adobe ID, you can get one online
by clicking Create an Adobe ID.

19. Go back to MVLC’s Overdrive page at
mvlc.lib.overdrive.com.

20. Click Sign In.

21. Library Barcode
On the Sign In page, you’ll be asked for
your library card number. This is located
below the barcode on your card.

22. When you’ve entered your number, click Sign In.

23. Congrats, you’ve signed in! Now click Advanced Search.

24. On the Advanced Search page, click All Formats.

25. Select “EPUB eBook.” This will make sure that only books
that can be read on a Nook will come up when you search.

26. Click “Search.”

27. All of these results can be read on a Nook!

28. Click on the cover of a book that you would like to
borrow.

29. Click on the cover of a book that you would like to
borrow.
Found one!

30. This book is ready right now! Click on Borrow.

31. The book is now checked out to you and ready to
download!

32. When you click Download, a menu will appear. Make
sure that EPUB eBook is selected and then click
Confirm & Download.

33. Open the downloaded file. It should be located in your
Downloads folder.

34. Adobe Digital Editions will open. Look, there’s your
book!

35. Click on Library View.

36. Remember how we connected your Nook to your
computer before? Here it is now!

37. Drag and drop the eBook to your Nook. Congratulations!
You have downloaded a library eBook to your Nook!

38. What if a book isn’t available?
If the book you want is already checked out, Place a Hold
on it! Then you’ll be notified by email as soon as the book
is available again.
