- 5. www.seznam.cz The very beginnings… 2000 Seznam.cz receives the Blind Friendly Certificate for the Homepage Seznam.cz and news portal Novinky.cz 2006 Seznam.cz starts cooperation with Tereza Centre (now called ELSA) = the very beginnings of the Seznam.cz´s attempts for accessibility @izatlouk

- 16. www.seznam.cz Haptic maps @izatlouk With ELSA Centrum we are working on a special layer for Mapy.cz that will be able to generate automatically map data optimized for the print of haptic maps!

- 18. www.seznam.cz WCAG 2.0 @izatlouk In Seznam.cz we are planing to replace our own Rules for Accessible Seznam with the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Less rules more principles And thus we do recommend it to others as well ;)

- Dogmatic Rigid rules, describing what exactly you have to do, lets no deviation, ne departure from the strict rules for the absolutely accessible web. But there are cases where you do not need to be so rigid, thus these rules are both useless and expensive (both in money and explanation why you need to be so rigid. Compromise Look for a solution with the best value money ratio
- You need to define what makes sense (from rules to principles). Seznam.cz – various, numerous services from different fields = they need different approach It makes sense to rely on already existing solutions. EG. Email – there are various accessible desktop e-mail clients and thus our own E-mail service needs not to be perfectly accessible, search among pictures –what use would it have for blind people, on the other hand for Full text Search there is no other solution and it is much used service, thus we spend more focus on its accessibility
- These rules are sharable among all the employees. Our own rules – important and relevant for our services Seznam.cz is a very big company – with 1000 employees, 30 services provided accessibility cannot be put into practice by one person only.. Webmasters Product managers Even text editors and the journalist when fiiling the news pages with conntent and putting links into their texts
- When we make changes to our services, we ask ELZA Centrum for the final check of its accessibility. Sometimes we receive a good piece of advise Email – we forgotten to add a hidden legend (popisek) to the search box
- Free ware – anyone can use
