Objectives 
Overall objective: Integrate nutrient diversity in agriculture, 
market and ecosystem assessments and planning 
Specific objectives: 
1. Monitor the diversity in nutritional composition produced 
or supplied by agriculture and market systems 
2. Identify species/ varieties that add nutritional diversity to 
a system 
3. Evaluate sensitivity/ resilience of a system for providing 
nutritional diversity
Calculation (1) 
• Uses functional diversity metric calculations – from ecological 
sciences to combine traits with species composition 
• Datasets: 1) species composition of plot/ farm/ market; 2) 
food composition of species/ varieties
Calculation (2) 
Free statistical software to 
calculate Diversity metrics

  • 3. Objectives Overall objective: Integrate nutrient diversity in agriculture, market and ecosystem assessments and planning Specific objectives: 1. Monitor the diversity in nutritional composition produced or supplied by agriculture and market systems 2. Identify species/ varieties that add nutritional diversity to a system 3. Evaluate sensitivity/ resilience of a system for providing nutritional diversity
  • 4. Calculation (1) • Uses functional diversity metric calculations – from ecological sciences to combine traits with species composition • Datasets: 1) species composition of plot/ farm/ market; 2) food composition of species/ varieties
  • 5. Calculation (2) Free statistical software to calculate Diversity metrics www.nucleodiversus.org
