“When it comes to business
intelligence, Microsoft SQL Server
2012 demonstrates that the
platform has continued to
advance and keep up with the
innovations that are happening in
big data.”
David Mariani
VP of Engineering, Klout
“Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online
assists us in achieving objectives
that are part of our Drive for 10
strategy, such as aligning
ourselves with the right
customers and markets and
broadening our geographic
reach.”
Bob Tettero
Director of Corporate Strategy and
Business Intelligence, Ball
“Office 365 gives us the
opportunity to change the way
we collaborate with our internal
associates. It really brings the
company closer together. More
importantly, it presents a
foundation for us to move
forward with enhanced
collaboration with our customers
and membership.”
George Zaruba
VP, Infrastructure, WellPoint
“Only Windows Phone was built
to work best with our existing IT
investment in Microsoft
Office, SharePoint
Online, Exchange Online, and
Lync Online. We knew that
Microsoft would keep updates to
its software in sync with Windows
Phone. And our in-house
developers could develop for it
using their existing skills.”
Armand Rabinowitz
Director of IT Innovation, Hyatt
How will you embrace the new era of productivity?
Eight ways to go paperless in the new era of
productivity
1
Store data digitally in on-
premises, hybrid, or pure cloud-based
storage services so it can easily be
shared and synchronized across
devices.
3
Deploy a common operating system
that offers security, directory
services, and the touch-and-gesture
features that underlie the digital
workstyle.
2
Use digital imaging to capture
handwritten notes and drawings
and to quickly access information
represented by digital tags.
4
Install high-resolution touch screens, for
personal or team use, in order to enable
rich environments for the display and
manipulation of data and information.
5
Natural Input for applications uses
touch, stylus, and gesture-based input to
take notes and mark up documents
digitally, replacing notebooks and
whiteboards.
6
Place audio-visual conferencing systems
in executive conference rooms
to enable remote meetings and team
collaboration around data without print.
7
Provide small notebook
computers, tablets, and smartphones
so people
can access their information
anywhere, anytime.
8
Use tablets and smartphones to
shift the consumption of information
from paper to
convenient, portable, connected digital
devices.

Editor's Notes

  1. Timing: 3 minutes Key Points:Four technology megatrends—mobile, social, cloud, and big data—are fundamentally redefining how people work and the tools that they expect to use to do their work. How enterprises embrace these technology megatrends will define their ability to compete and recruit the best emerging talent from the next generation. Speaker Notes:Earlier in the keynote presentation, we mentioned four megatrends that are radically changing enterprise IT as we know it. These trends are fundamentally changing the way that people work—creating new possibilities for improved productivity and efficiency while supporting a more flexible workstyle that better fits with today’s workers:Mobile. New mobile devices—from smartphones to tablets to ultraportable laptops—combined with increasingly prevalent Wi-Fi and cellular data access let your employees stay connected from virtually anywhere. By some estimates, more than a billion people will be using smartphones and tablets by 2016. Today’s workers are increasingly mobile and they need—and expect—to be able to choose the devices they will use and to have access from anywhere to the resources they need to do their jobs.Social. Social is similarly redefining the workplace. Social networking sites have redefined how people connect and share with each other (particularly the millennial generation, who have never known a time without their mobile phones and computers). That influence is spilling over into the workplace, and enterprises are seizing the opportunity to establish internal social tools that bring their people together in more natural ways.Cloud. The cloud is the backbone for a lot of the changes that we are seeing in technology in the enterprise today—it makes anywhere connectivity to internal resources much easier from all kinds of devices, and it provides the scalability and agility to support rapid deployment of new tools across a dispersed workforce. All of the other megatrends are really enabled by the cloud, which is why it is seeing such rapid uptake and interest across our enterprise customers.Big data. Data is everywhere thanks to the explosion in devices, the increase in digital sharing of content, and the tremendous scalability of the cloud. Data stores both inside and outside the enterprise are skyrocketing (up to 2.7 zettabytes in 2012!), and the opportunity for businesses today is to tap into those data stores and make them accessible in a way that will enable their people to get new insights and make informed, timely decisions that will drive the business forward. These “megatrends” are becoming real scenarios today for most enterprises, having a pronounced effect on how individuals work and how businesses compete. They are also increasingly a differentiator for recruiting and retaining the best talent, who expect to use the latest technology to do their jobs. Transition: These megatrends are, in turn, helping us redefine how we think about enterprise productivity. Additional Information:By 2016, smartphones and tablets will put power in the pockets of a billion global consumers. “Mobile Is the New Face of Engagement.” Forrester Research. 2. Timing: 2 minutes Key Points:Microsoft has evolved from a largely software-based company to a devices and services company.Microsoft can offer you unique value, using the depth of itsexperience with both consumer and enterprise technologies to deliver the experiences that your users want combined with the enterprise-grade solutions that your business needs. Speaker Notes: It wasn’t that long ago that Microsoft was largely a software company. Today, Microsoft has redefined its approach to take advantage of these powerful trends, to redefine Microsoft’s vision for productivity. Microsoft is becoming a devices and services company. What does that mean?Microsoft is working to give you the best productivity experience across all your devices. Whether you call it a post-PC or a plus-PC era, it’s about enabling your people to stay productive and connected to your business and documents, while giving them the flexibility to use the device of their choice: PC, smartphone, or tablet.Microsoft also offers a unique approach to the cloud, giving you the flexibility to adopt the cloud on your own timeline. You have the option of splitting users or workloads between on-premises and the cloud, so you can decide on the best migration path and pace for your business.Microsoft’s long-term strategy is to provide you with the experiences and devices that your users love and demand, while delivering enterprise-grade solutions for your company. This is where Microsoft can deliver unique value. We believe that Microsoft has the most comprehensive and differentiated vision, and is in the best position in the industry to deliver on it. Nobody else in the market today has the same depth of experience with both consumer and enterprise technologies and an understanding of both what consumers want and what enterprises need. Microsoft is committed to providing you with highly secure and manageable technologies that offer the best possible experiences.  Transition: Let’s have a closer look at Microsoft’s vision, and what it really means for your business.
  3. Timing: 8 minutes (with video) Key Points:There are four components to Microsoft’s vision for the new era of productivity:Devices. Enabling people to use the latest devices—on virtually any platform—for maximum productivity no matter where they are working from, without compromise.Social. Using technology to support a more social, collaborative workstyle, both in how employees connect with each other and also in how they engage with customers.Cloud. Embracing the cloud to enable a more scalable, manageable app experience and to simplify deployment for IT.Control. Tools that let IT stay in control, maintain compliance, and help secure and protect critical enterprise information while providing greater flexibility for users.Microsoft’s vision for the new era of productivity is about delivering modern business solutions that empower a more connected workforce through a platform of enterprise-ready products: the new Office, Windows 8, Windows Phone smartphones, and Microsoft Dynamics business applications. Speaker Notes:At the heart of every successful business are the people who make things happen. Microsoft believes that every organization should empower its individuals with intuitive productivity tools and business applications that help them do their best work—seamlessly and with the greatest impact.Microsoft’s vision for this new era of productivity has four components. Each of these areas is essential for enterprises today to maximize the contributions of their people while helping protect the business’s intellectual property. Today’s session will be structured around each of these areas; but to get things started, let’s touch on what we mean by each one:Devices. How many different device types are your people currently using to do their work? Laptops without a doubt. Smartphones? Tablets? Ultra-portables? Specialized devices for your industry? How many different platforms are those devices running? How many of those devices are owned and provisioned by your business and how many are personally owned devices that your people are bringing in or using from home? Is there a disconnect for your people as they move from one device to the next? Can they access all of the internal resources on your network regardless of what device they are using or where they are working from? My guess is that you are all already thinking about these questions and wrestling with a device strategy that gives your people what they want to do their work without putting your business at risk or affecting efficiency. Microsoft’s device approach is about enabling people to use the latest devices—on virtually any platform—for maximum productivity no matter where they are working from, without compromise.Social. Social is one of today’s technology megatrends. It really started in the consumer space—Facebook, Skype, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and so on. At home, many (even most!) of us use some form of consumer social computing application to connect with our friends, families, acquaintances, even strangers. For the millennial generation, these tools represent an essential way of interacting with each other and forming networks and communities. Are your people using Facebook as part of their work today? Has instant messaging (IM) overtaken email as their first choice for quick online connections? Do your employees share their business documents with each other on consumer file-sharing sites (or even just use these consumer sites so they can access their work from anywhere)? Are your customers interacting with your business through social sites, potentially researching your products and services or rating their experiences online? Have you deployed any internal social tools that take advantage of this trend and, if so, what has worked and what hasn’t? There is certainly some risk inherent in the consumer social tools, but that doesn’t discount the tremendous potential that “social” in general has to change the face of productivity in this new era. Microsoft believes that social is the way forward, and is focused on using technology to support a more social, collaborative workstyle, both in how employees connect with each other and also in how they engage with customers.Cloud. We’ve already touched on the cloud as a megatrend. How many of you are now using some form of cloud service in your business today? Have you considered the value of the cloud in enabling a more flexible workstyle? How are you managing the online/offline experience? What kind of value do you think the cloud will offer your IT professionals—have you considered or realized the benefits from a deployment and ongoing management perspective? Are your developers exploring the cloud as a new way to deliver apps internally? For customers? And possibly the number one thought on everyone’s mind today—what about security, privacy, and reliability? Microsoft’s approach is about enabling you to embrace the cloud on your terms to enable a more scalable, manageable app experience and simplify deployment for your IT professionals.Control. Last but not least, control is essential if you want to protect your critical intellectual property and minimize disruptions to your business. As your IT environment becomes more complex, with new devices, apps, and deployment models, the associated risk also increases. How can you provide the connectivity that your people demand without compromising security? How can you protect and manage your information while making it available to your people no matter where they are and what device they are using? Microsoft’s approach is about delivering the tools that let IT stay in control, maintain compliance, and help secure and protect critical enterprise information while providing greater flexibility for users.Microsoft’s productivity vision is about delivering modern business solutions that empower a more connected workforce—by breaking down barriers, uncovering insights, and supporting efficient processes. It’s about delivering the latest capabilities in technology while keeping your tools simple and easy to use—so your employees can get up and running quickly and effectively. It’s about delivering applications that are proactive and actually help guide your people through a task so they can achieve more. It’s about technology that enables your business and your people to respond with agility and quickly adapt to changing market conditions and business process. And it’s about applications that connect your people to each other, to your partners, and ultimately to your customers.Underpinning Microsoft’s vision for a new era of productivity is a platform of connected, enterprise-ready products that are delivering the new experiences and capabilities represented by the potential of technology today: the new Office, Windows 8, Windows Phone smartphones, and Microsoft Dynamics business applications. Before we provide more details on each of these topics, let’s hear from a Microsoft customer [Play Seton Hall video – 3 minutes (Window 8 & devices focus) - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enterprise/products-and-technologies/windows-8/default.aspx] Transition: Let’s look at each of these four components in turn and how Microsoft is delivering on its vision.
  4. Timing: 3 minutes Key Points:With Windows 8 and Windows Phone, Microsoft is supporting a comprehensive range of devices that your people will love and that will deliver the enterprise-grade security that you require—from full desktop PCs, to laptops, to tablets, to smartphones. From a mobile device perspective:Windows 8 delivers a no-compromise business tablet experience, with both Intel (x86) devices for maximum convenience and power and ARM-based devices for thinner, lighter, sleeker designs with a long battery life.Windows Phone 8 provides an enterprise-ready smartphone designed to complement the Windows 8 devices using the same trusted core.  Speaker Notes:People want to use devices that reflect their unique needs and workstyles, and Microsoft is helping meet those needs today with devices based on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.Microsoft’s focus is on delivering consistent, highly secure experiences across devices. Windows 8 is designed for touch; supports a longer battery life; powers thinner, lighter, and faster devices; enables new form factors, from tablets to convertibles to ultra-portables, to all-in-ones; and takes advantage of new hardware innovations such as low-power Bluetooth, GPS, gyroscopes, and accelerometers as well as security hardware technologies such as Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) boot. Many of today’s devices are about mobility, so let’s quickly touch on what Microsoft is offering by way of mobile devices:We hear from business users today that they have to choose between convenience and productivity. Windows 8 heralds a new and broad range of lightweight, no-compromise business tablets (including both Microsoft Surface tablets and tablets from other original equipment manufacturers [OEMs]), providing both experiences that users love and enterprise-class security: Windows 8 x86 tablets deliver a touch-enabled experience along with full support for mouse and keyboard plus pen—users can have the convenience and mobility of a tablet along with the power and familiar experience of a full PC, and they can move effortlessly between work and personal activities. Also, with x86-based Windows 8 tablets, users get a connected experience with apps from the Windows Store, while they can also use all of the desktop line-of-business (LOB) and productivity apps that they use today with Windows 7. Windows RT tablets run on ARM, enabling thinner, lighter, and sleeker designs as well as a long battery life. These devices share code with Windows 8, so they can run apps from the Windows Store and are compatible with most peripherals. Plus, they are ready for business—they have Office preinstalled, they have built-in support for virtual private network (VPN) connections (for Microsoft, Cisco, CheckPoint, and Juniper servers), and they support multi-factor authentication (smartcard and virtual smartcard).Microsoft is also delivering a new range of delightful phones through the Windows Phone platform. This is the year for Windows Phone. The platform is growing quickly with an extension of partnerships that offer additional geographic coverage worldwide coupled with localization to support this expansion. Also, additional mobile operators are being added, and the apps marketplace has surpassed 110,000 apps and continues to growing rapidly. These enterprise-ready smartphones will complement the new devices powered by Windows 8. Windows Phone 8 isn't just a great phone for business. It's an extension of the Windows ecosystem and an integrated part of a Microsoft-wide mobile computing story. It's built on the same trusted core as Windows 8 and has a built-in Office Hub, which means that your employees will have a consistent productivity experience across device types. It also allows for shared experiences among phone, tablet, and PC.From a development standpoint, Microsoft’s enterprise-ready devices offer unified app development. This includes:Robust developer tools for Windows Phone and WindowsSupport for native codeEasy portability across form factors Now let’s hear from a Microsoft customer who uses Windows Phone for their business [Insert Hyatt video (win phone) – 3 minutes: http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Windows-Phone/Hyatt-Corporation/Hotelier-Picks-Windows-Phone-Office-365-over-iPhone-Android-Saves-33-Percent-on-TCO/710000001309]  Transition: Along with a new wave of devices comes a new generation of applications.
  5. Timing: 2 minutes Presenter Guidance:Click through the slide builds to show a variety of different app experiences on the tablet. Key Points:Today’s new wave of devices is enabling a new generation of apps that enable productivity without compromise. From Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 to the new Office and Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft is focused on delivering fast and fluid experiences that are enabled for touch but also support pen, mouse and keyboard; that are designed for the best experience on the device being used; and that are connected and consistent across devices and apps. Speaker Notes:Today’s applications are all about delivering immersive experiences—using an app without distractions, for productivity without compromise. Through Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and a range of productivity and business applications being launched this year, Microsoft is focusing on:Providing a fast and fluid experience, so your people can get to work without delay. For example, with Windows 8 there will be a new class of ultrathin PCs and tablets that turn on instantly and stay connected to the Internet, so your PC is ready when you are. Even just putting Windows 8 on an existing PC will help improve performance.Designing for touch, for a more natural way of interacting with your device, while also supporting pen, mouse, and keyboard. Not only has Windows 8 been designed this way, but Office has also been redesigned for a touch-first experience; in fact, as just mentioned, Office comes preinstalled on Windows RT touch-based devices.Taking advantage of device hardware capabilities, so the experience is optimized for the device being used. Whether you are using the new Office or Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft is delivering powerful experiences that are consistent across devices but tailored to what you are using—from a PC, to a browser, to a tablet.Delivering experiences that span desktops and mobile devices, so your apps can interact with each other and run across different platforms, from Windows 8 to Windows RT to Windows Phone 8. Microsoft Office applications are designed to be best on Windows, but they’ll also work other platforms. Plus, Microsoft’s productivity and business applications are designed to work together; for example, Microsoft Dynamics works with Outlook and SharePoint—helping your teams be more productive using applications that they are already familiar with. Transition: Experiences that span devices are particularly important for today’s mobile workers. Let’s talk a little now about how today’s technology is making it even easier for people to stay productive on the go.
  6. Timing: 2 minutes Key Points:Today’s mobile work scenarios—from contractors, to “bring your own device” (BYOD) programs, to work travel and work from home situations, to free seating and shared PCs—demand a new approach to delivering productivity tools.Microsoft’s approach is to support mobile workers without compromising security:Windows To Go lets users carry their managed Windows 8 desktop on a USB stick for access from virtually any PC.Office is now available on demand through the cloud, and Office documents and settings roam with users, for access from virtually anywhere.Microsoft’s business applications are going mobile too, such as with the new Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile service that lets users connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM from their Windows Phone, iOS, Android, and BlackBerry devices. Speaker Notes:Today’s workers expect a more mobile workstyle, and a more mobile workstyle demands a fresh approach to delivering productivity tools. Some common scenarios for mobile workers include:If your business has contract workers, you’ll want to get them up and running quickly without compromising security. The increasing use of personal devices for work (including “bring your own device” or BYOD strategies) can help you minimize infrastructure costs while supporting more flexibility.Supporting access from a range of mobile devices can help people travel light for work and/or work from home more easily without sacrificing productivity.By providing shared PCs, you can enable free seating that lets people roam across mobile workstations while keeping their personalized settings and access to their documents. And of course, above and beyond these specific scenarios are the mobile workers who spend the majority of their time out of the office at client and customers sites. But how do you support these mobile scenarios without compromising security or productivity? I’d like to highlight a few opportunities:With Windows To Go in Windows 8, users can take their entire managed corporate desktop with them on a pocket-sized bootable USB drive for use on any Windows 7 or newer PC available at work, home, or any other location. Windows To Go supports encryption and management by policy, helping you protect your intellectual property.Office is now a service. With Office on Demand, users can get to their Office apps from virtually any computer—they simply log in and the Office apps are streamed from the cloud and usable in as little as 30 seconds. The apps and documents are only available during the session, as no files are held in the local file cache. With SkyDrive Pro, documents and settings roam with users. SkyDrive Pro provides a highly secure, enterprise-grade alternative to consumer cloud storage services that is managed by your organization. The same concept of mobility extends to your business applications. For example, the new Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile service connects your mobile employees with Microsoft Dynamics CRM—for greater productivity on the road. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile service can bring your mobile workers closer to your customers for differentiated interactions that ultimately help create profitable customer relationships.  Transition: The next area I’d like to discuss is about providing collaborative business solutions through social capabilities.
  7. Timing: 3 minutes Key Points:Microsoft’s social strategy for the enterprise is about transforming the way people work and providing a unified platform for IT value.Microsoft social and collaboration technology provides a connected experience that helps make every employee more engaged, boosts team productivity, and enables organizational agility: From integrating social media into productivity tools to fueling collaboration with pervasive enterprise-ready social tools, the new Office is social by design. Microsoft Dynamics CRM can also help you strengthen customer relationships and integrate social into your business processes for a socially powered customer engagement strategy. With a unified, connected platform, Microsoft is delivering a social layer that brings all of the enterprise social experiences together—enabling seamless social engagement and simplifying management, security, and compliance. Speaker Notes: Social isn’t just a new set of tools—it’s a new way of thinking about your organization. At Microsoft, the vision for social is two-fold: (1) transforming the way people work and (2) providing IT value with a unified platform. First, social technology can transform the way your people work, making every employee more engaged, boosting team productivity, and enabling your organization as a whole to be more agile. It puts people at the center of your business, enabling employees, customers, and partners to connect with each other and the information they need to get their work done. Microsoft social technology for the enterprise has many faces, from the enterprise-ready social networking experience of Yammer to information-sharing capabilities in SharePoint to socially powered service tracking in Microsoft Dynamics. Microsoft’s productivity platform is social by design, so that your people can connect and share with their colleagues more easily. The acquisition of Yammer earlier this year demonstrates how strongly Microsoft believes in the social enterprise. Yammer already integrates with SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics, and over time it will offer more and more connections with SharePoint, Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics, and Skype. This highlights a key theme across all of Microsoft’s productivity tools—providing a connected social experience: Integrating social media into productivity tools. For example, People Card (a feature that appears throughout the new Office) gives users presence information complete with pictures, status updates, contact information, and activity feeds from Facebook and LinkedIn accounts for Lync contacts. Fueling collaboration with pervasive, “enterprise-ready” social tools—that is, social technology bolstered with privacy, encryption, and auditing capabilities. Yammer and SharePoint support collaborative work communities and information sharing, and Lync powers real-time communications, with presence, instant messaging (IM), audio and high-definition (HD) video calls, and online meetings. Social technology presents a powerful tool for engaging customers through personalized, interactive experiences. Social can help you market and sell to customers more effectively, provide proactive service, and be competitive with products and services that meet their needs and wants. Microsoft social technology extends to your customer engagement strategy too:Using social to strengthen customer relationships. By adding social capabilities and analytics to the sales, marketing, and service capabilities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft is turning the technology into a business hub for managing relationships across your social communities—including internal business communities, managed communities like a company Facebook page, and the public forums where people are discussing your products and services today. Microsoft Dynamics CRM helps employees keep up to date on customer activity by following accounts, opportunities, and service/support incidents.Integrating social with your customer business processes. For example, social-powered Outlook features help strengthen customer relationships by providing insight into the market. And Analytics for Twitter helps you to track and analyze customer social activity and trends. The second part of Microsoft’s vision is about a unified, connected platform. The social enterprise integrates social sharing across all enterprise applications. The “social layer” brings together all of the social experiences—conversations, people information, collaborative work—onto a unified platform. This platform not only promotes seamless social engagement across the organization, but also facilitates management, security, and compliance. Now let’s hear from a customer [Optional: Play video about CSX (Dynamics CRM) – shows integration w/outlook and value of using Microsoft’s Productivity tools: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/customer-success-stories-detail.aspx?casestudyid=395000000081] Transition: Let’s take a closer look at the value of real-time communications, accessible from any device.
  8. Timing: 2 minutes Key Points:Microsoft communications tools provide a modern, real-time communications experience that reflects how people connect with each other in their personal lives. With Lync, Microsoft is making real-time communications pervasive across productivity applications and devices: Your users can take advantage of the presence, IM, audio and HD video calling, online conferencing, and screen sharing capabilities for better meeting and collaboration experiences. They can connect with each other from virtually any device and from virtually anywhere. And they can even connect with people who are using Skype, through Lync-to-Skype federation.  Speaker Notes:Drawing on how consumers use online tools to connect with each other, today’s technology provides many communications options in the enterprise too, from IM to voice and video.Integrated real-time communications capabilities can provide a great meeting and collaboration experience. Microsoft believes that your communications platform is best when it is integrated with the tools that your people use every day. Real-time communications capabilities are accessible right from Microsoft’s productivity applications, so your users can reach out to others without leaving the application they’re working in. For example, Lync capabilities (including IM, presence, and audio and video calling) are available from Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote, and other Office applications as well as Microsoft Dynamics. Lync provides all contact information in one convenient spot. When your users are meeting online, the video gallery in Lync can really bring meetings to life. It simultaneously displays up to five different participants’ videos, identifies the active speaker, associates names with faces, and represents additional meeting participants with HD photos. Microsoft communications tools are accessible from almost any device, to keep everyone working together effectively, no matter where they are. Lync provides a familiar and engaging experience across a variety of devices and platforms.Reimagined for Windows 8, Lync provides fast, natural, hands-on control of communications across the entire range of Windows 8 devices and architectures. Through the Lync Web App, both PC and Mac users can now join a Lync meeting from a browser for a rich meeting experience.Lync Mobile enables users to keep in touch no matter where they are and whether they are on a Windows Phone, iOS, or Android device. Users can send an IM, make a Lync call, or even join a Lync meeting with just one touch.Lync-to-Skype federation allows you to reach hundreds of millions of people with rich communications while taking advantage of the manageability in Lync. The new Office extends the presence, IM, and peer-to-peer voice capabilities of Lync to Skype users, whether you want to connect with other businesses, customers, or your family. It’s ideal for enterprises searching for inventive and differentiated opportunities for customer acquisition and retention. Transition: By connecting people and information with real-time communications and collaboration capabilities, you can also support smarter, faster business decisions.
  9. Timing: 2 minutes Key Points:By providing tools for real-time communication and collaboration, you can enable your people to analyze data together interactively. There are two components: (1) making it easier to find experts and valuable information through enterprise search capabilities that integrate social contact information; and (2) helping users share and collaborate with others using a highly visual, interactive platform to host data, charts, reports, and dashboards online and enabling real-time connections for collaborative decision making. Speaker Notes: Communications and collaboration capabilities are essential to enabling your people to make smart decisions in real time. The Microsoft productivity platform—and in particular Lync and SharePoint—can help your users find the right people and collaborate with them instantly. Find expertise and valuable informationWhether users are looking for existing reports and analytics or for colleagues with knowledge and expertise, Microsoft is focused on making it easier for them to find the right information, people, and knowledge when they need it with advanced search capabilities. This is possible when social contact information is integrated with the same enterprise search engine that they use to find documents and other information in the enterprise.Share and collaborate with othersYour users can create highly visual and interactive custom charts and reports with the Microsoft Power View SQL Server 2012 add-in for SharePoint. The data is always up to date, and by publishing it to SharePoint it’s easy for users to share insights with people across the business to validate recommendations and get feedback.Plus, SharePoint enables collaborative browser-based data exploration, visualization, and presentation experiences. For example, executives and business users can monitor and discuss information through collaborative dashboards, helping them to make better decisions using scorecards and social features. The slide shows a great example of a dashboard representing key metrics related to a project. Users can collectively analyze the information and provide each other with feedback and insights that will help them make decisions. And, as we just mentioned, Lync real-time communications capabilities are accessible right from within SharePoint, so your users can reach out to each other to discuss what they are seeing and collaborate on next steps using IM, voice, video, and app sharing—without having to change screens or open a new application. Transition: The next area I’d like to discuss is the role of the cloud in providing streamlined, scalable app experiences.

  11. Timing: 2 minutes Key Points:With the cloud, users’ documents and settings can follow them from device to device, regardless of where they choose to work from:The new Office is always logged in, roaming with the user across devices, and provides anywhere access to files by saving to the cloud by default.Windows can provide a personalized experience for users across devices whenever they log in using application virtualization, roaming user profiles, and folder redirection. Microsoft Dynamics is an integral part of the Microsoft productivity suite, providing a seamless experience for users that doesn’t require them to move between solutions from separate vendors. Speaker Notes:For users, the anywhere connectivity of the cloud makes it possible for them to get what they need, when they need it, on any device.Microsoft has embraced the cloud as a way to deliver seamless, personalized experiences for users. For example:The new Office is always logged in and roams with you across devices and locations. It remembers your settings and where you left off. It can save your files to the cloud by default, either through SkyDrive for personal files and SkyDrive Pro for work files. (SkyDrive Pro combines the ease of the consumer-oriented SkyDrive personal file storage and file-sharing service with the enterprise collaboration capabilities of SharePoint, so your business maintains control and can help protect your confidential intellectual property.) The new Office also provides a consistent online and offline experience—when you install Office using Click-to-Run application streaming deployment, the features you install remain available when you go offline, so there is no interruption to productivity.Windows likewise enables you to deliver an experience that roams with the user across devices. Users can access their own personalized corporate desktop on any corporate PC, including settings, data, and apps, from the moment they log in. With application virtualization, roaming user profiles, and folder redirection, users can get a consistent experience across devices, whether they are online or offline. At the same time, IT benefits from centralized management of application access and delivery based on rules and policies. For your business applications, Microsoft Dynamics CRM is an integral part of the Microsoft productivity suite. You get services, productivity, collaboration, content, and social capabilities all designed to work together, without having to piece together separate systems.  Transition: So, that’s how the cloud can benefit your users with a personalized experience. What about the implications for IT in deploying productivity apps?
  12. Timing: 3 minutes Key Points:The cloud can make development and deployment easier for your IT staff. At Microsoft, the combination of the cloud and productivity tools means three things:Cloud on your terms. You choose whether you want to deploy from the cloud or manage your productivity infrastructure on-premises, or whether a hybrid of the two works best for your business.Deployment reimagined. Microsoft is introducing new options for deploying productivity apps, from streaming the new Office applications from the cloud, to delivering a single infrastructure for provisioning and deploying productivity apps ranging from Office 365 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, to providing a new model for deploying Windows 8-style LOB apps to Windows RT devices.New cloud app model. The new Office provides a new cloud app model that lets your developers use their existing skills and tools to build highly secure, scalable, and flexible apps that are hosted in the cloud and published through either the Office or SharePoint store or through an internal app catalog. Speaker Notes:With the explosion in the number and types of devices that people use, there needs to be a better way of deploying productivity tools. Microsoft has worked hard to make it easier—and more cost effective—for IT to deploy and manage the technology.Cloud on your terms.First, something that is a critical part of Microsoft’s approach: you can move to the cloud on your terms. Yes, Microsoft is redefining itself as a services company, but continues to offer the on-premises capabilities that you are already familiar with. Microsoft has architected its platform and management approach to be comprehensive and deeply integrated, spanning cloud and on-premises scenarios. You choose the deployment model—or combination—that works best for your business.Deployment reimagined. With Office 365, Microsoft has re-architected the Office client installation process. Users simply need to log in to their Office 365 account and Office will be streamed from the cloud, in real time, to their PC and ready to use in as little as 30 seconds. It basically streams application components in a way that is prioritized so you can get started using the Office apps right away while the full installation completes in the background. All users need is a PC running Windows 7 or later (admin rights are not required). Most deployment blockers are removed, as Office can now run side by side with older versions of Office. Updates are loaded in the background, so your Office apps are always up to date without the need to manually install service updates. Plus, you still have the flexibility to use push deployments methods, if required. I should also point out that your administrator can use the same toolset for Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment as for your cloud productivity solutions—they are provisioned and licensed on the same platform. From a Windows 8 perspective, Microsoft is also using the cloud to simplify app deployment. For devices running Windows RT, Microsoft has integrated a new management client that can communicate with a management infrastructure in the cloud to deliver LOB apps to users without going through the Windows Store. This new model lets your users browse for and install any LOB apps made available to them. It periodically synchronizes with the management infrastructure to check for any updated LOB apps and apply the latest settings and policies configured by IT for the device. If the user or the administrator chooses to remove the device from the management infrastructure, it disables any LOB apps that the user installed.New cloud app model Finally, the new Office also introduces a new cloud app model to extend and personalize the way you create and consume information from within Office and SharePoint. This new cloud app model combines cloud services and web technologies to enable your developers to quickly develop highly secure, scalable, and flexible apps that are hosted in the cloud with a minimal device footprint. Your developers can take advantage of their skills with familiar languages such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, along with their favorite tools and hosting services. Apps can be published through the Office and SharePoint Store or as IT-approved apps through an internal app catalog. This new cloud app model will make your new Office even more exciting—and more useful—as it can be extended to fit your business needs.  Transition: Hopefully you’re all as excited as we are about the potential represented by the cloud, but I know for some there will be lingering doubts around security and reliability. Let’s talk about that. Additional Information:“Managing ‘BYO’ PCs in the enterprise (including WOA).” http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/04/19/managing-quot-byo-quot-pcs-in-the-enterprise-including-woa.aspx
  13. Timing: 2 minutes Key Points:Microsoft focuses on operational excellence to deliver online productivity services that are highly scalable, secure, and reliable:Scalable.Microsoft delivers over 200 services globally.Secure and private.Microsoft uses a multi-tiered security approach to ensure compliancewith industry standards and sustain regulatory compliance. Reliability and performance.Microsoft’s global operations centers and a robust network engineered for reliability and performance help ensure that you can always connect to your services.Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM are enterprise-grade services, designed to meet the most rigorous requirements for security, privacy, reliability, and manageability.Speaker Notes:With a range of cloud services—including both Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM—Microsoft has a driving focus on operational excellence in everything it does. The four most common questions Microsoft hears are:How can I be sure your cloud can scale with my global requirements?Microsoft datacenters provision over 200 services for businesses and consumers worldwide. For example, Windows Live hosts about half a billion active IDs every day, in 59 markets, localized in 36 languages. How do I know my data is secure and private in your cloud?Microsoft maintains a three-tiered approach to security for cloud services, including a risk-based information security program, a comprehensive compliance framework, and a deep set of security controls. These processes and mechanisms are how Microsoft complies with industry standards and sustains regulatory compliance with all applicable laws, directives, statutes, and regulations while delivering services online to a global customer base. Looking specifically at Office 365 productivity services: Your data is kept safe in state-of-the-art access-controlled datacenters and through secure mobile access for users. You know where your data resides, who can access it, and what Microsoft does with it. Office 365 does not “recycle” users’ information for advertising, and maintains a clear separation between business and consumer services and their needs.Microsoft’s industry-leading Security Development Life Cycle ensures that security best practices are followed at every stage of service development and delivery.Office 365 is the first major cloud-based productivity service to employ security frameworks based on International Standards Organization (ISO/IEC 27001:2005) standards and is ISO 27001 certified by independent auditors. Office 365 is also contractually committed to the EU Model Clauses and HIPAA Business Associate Agreements. How do you manage service outages, service level attacks, and operations? The Microsoft Operations Centers are globally distributed, redundant operations centers that provide 24×7 operations support for incidents and outages. They manage 1,000 incidents and 10,000 alarms per week. How do you ensure fast and reliable connectivity worldwide?Microsoft has engineered its network for reliability and performance to ensure that you can always connect to your services. The network includes core datacenters; dark fiber connectivity between the major hubs, edge, and Internet points of presence; metro solutions that connect businesses; and peer-to-peer (P2P) or “last mile” connections that connect users.  Transition: To continue on the theme of enterprise-ready compliance, security, and manageability, the last area I’d like to discuss is control. Additional Information: “Top 10 Reasons Why Enterprises Choose Office 365,” http://www.whymicrosoft.com/en-us/resources/Pages/WhitePaper.aspx?Title=Top+10+Reasons+Why+Enterprises+Choose+Office+365&ResourceType=White+PaperDay in the Microsoft Cloud resources from Global Foundation Resources: http://dayinthecloud and http://ignition/DIMC/resource_operational-excellence.aspx
  14. Timing: 3 minutes Key Points: In the new era of productivity, security remains critical. Microsoft is focused on delivering highly secure, enterprise-grade, connected experiences. Microsoft products, from Windows 8 to Windows Phone 8 to Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics, are engineered for end-to-end security. With high-fidelity virtualized application experiences enabled by Windows 8, your users can use remote desktops that behave more like traditional desktops—while you keep your sensitive data in the datacenter. With System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack (SP) 1 and the next release of Windows Intune, you can use a single administration console to manage your heterogeneous mobile device infrastructure. Speaker Notes:Although so much of the new era of productivity is about flexibility and embracing new workstyles, devices, and apps, we know that for your enterprise, security remains critical. Microsoft is committed to delivering a more connected, secure, enterprise-grade experience across your devices and productivity applications. Enhanced end-to-end security. From client devices to your network to your back-end infrastructure, Windows 8 offers features that help improve the security and reliability of the systems in your organization. For example, Secure Boot validates the integrity of the entire boot process, including the hardware, boot loader, kernel, boot-related system files, and drivers. BitLocker Drive Encryption helps protect corporate data on mobile PCs. And Windows RT supports the use of smartcards and virtual smartcards for corporate network access. With Windows Server 2012, claim-based access control enables you to set up and manage usage policies for specific data. It helps protect sensitive data, and it can help ensure that those who are accessing the data and the systems they are using are trusted.Because Windows Phone 8 is built on the same trusted core as Windows 8, you can expect the same robust security technologies—such as trusted boot, full device encryption, information rights management, and application sandboxing—to help you protect your business information. We’ve already touched on Microsoft’s approach to security with Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, but to reiterate, these cloud services are designed to meet enterprise security requirements through strong governance and security-aware engineering at every step.High-fidelity virtualized experiences. Remote Desktop Services (RDS) creates a more secure workplace by keeping sensitive data in the data center while allowing multiple users to work simultaneously. Windows 8 enables users to have a high-fidelity experience when working in an RDS or Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) scenario—including touch on a local device, 3D graphics, and full multimedia as well as support for USB ports and Lync on the local device. Additionally, investments in Windows 8 allow for more cost efficient storage and better VDI management. Centralized management across platforms. System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack (SP) 1 and the next release of Windows Intune will work together so you can manage all of your devices from a single tool and gain visibility, enforce policies, and maintain control of a heterogeneous mobile device infrastructure. Furthermore, Office 365 now has an administration portal that gives you a quick overview of the service and integrates service health, usage reports, and support requests. The dashboard also scales to additional services, such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM. And you can use it to manage users of both Office 365 and on-premises servers.  Transition: We know that it’s equally important that you can protect and manage your business’s information.
  15. Timing: 1 minute Key Points:The new Office includes several new features to help you better protect your data while it is in transit (data loss prevention) and at rest (transparent and granular retention) and to make e-discovery easier.  Speaker Notes:The last area I’d like to touch on is how Microsoft is providing you with new tools to help you better manage and protect your data. There are three key points I’d like to mention:Data loss prevention (DLP). DLP is about keeping business communications secured while in transit. The new Office has built-in DLP controls to give you the flexibility to manage the passage of sensitive information in and out of your environment. For example, PolicyTips can warn users about unintended policy violations when sending email.Transparent and granular retention. The new Office can also help you manage your data “at rest” with integrated archiving and data hold capabilities. With centrally managed or user-assigned policies, you can retain and archive data at the folder, conversation, or individual message level. For example, Exchange delivers enhanced, integrated compliance functionality—including archiving, electronic discovery, and In-Place hold—to help ease and reduce the costs of regulatory compliance and discovery challenges.Unified e-discovery. With advanced search technology, the new Office unifies the e-discovery process by enabling you to retrieve content stored across Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, and file shares. You can search and view content by project, legal matter, or business context. Transition: Let’s summarize and talk about next steps for how you can embrace a new era of productivity.
  16. Timing: 3 minutes Key Points:Microsoft is helping enterprises embrace a new era of productivity by investing in four critical areas: mobile, social, cloud, and control. Speaker Notes:A new era of productivity demands a new approach to technology in the enterprise, and today we’ve looked at what that means at Microsoft.Microsoft is focused on delivering technology to support you in four areas:Devices. With today’s more flexible workstyle and a growing selection of new device types, Microsoft is supporting a comprehensive range of devices based on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8—from full desktop PCs, to laptops, to tablets, to smartphones. Microsoft is also delivering more immersive app experiences to enable productivity without compromise. And with the anywhere connectivity enabled by Wi-Fi and mobile data access, Microsoft is providing a range of mobile solutions that help your people stay productive on the go without compromising security.Social. Just as new devices are infiltrating the enterprise, so too are social computing technologies. Microsoft is integrating social into every aspect of the productivity platform, helping transform the way your people work and connect with customers while providing a unified platform for IT. Microsoft is also making real-time communications capabilities pervasive, so your people are just a click or gesture away from connecting with each other and with your partners and customers. And Microsoft is enabling online connections to help them share information, discover expertise, and analyze data collaboratively to make more informed, smarter business decisions.Cloud. The cloud underpins the new era of productivity by providing the connectivity, scalability, and agility demanded by a more flexible workstyle, the explosion in device types, and social connections online. Microsoft is using the power of the cloud to deliver seamless, personalized experiences across devices—experiences that follow users wherever they go. Microsoft’s cloud approach is also benefiting IT, by providing simpler and faster options for handling app development and deployment. And across cloud services, Microsoft is focused on delivering the scalability, security, reliability, and performance that you need to keep your business competitive and protected.Control. And finally, even as the productivity platform enables more flexibility, Microsoft is giving you more options for control. Microsoft is empowering you to deliver a more connected, secure experience by taking advantage of the end-to-end security built into Microsoft products, by providing high-fidelity virtualized experiences to users, and by taking advantage of centralized management across platforms. And Microsoft is delivering transparent and granular tools to help ease the burden on IT as they protect and manage your business’s confidential information.  Transition: So, how will you embrace the new era of productivity?
  17. Timing: 3 minutesKey Points:Voice of customer, excitementAdditional quotes that can used:Messaging/Collaboration “The upside to the consumerization of IT is that our employees use tools that they know and like, and that make them more productive,” (Mark Morneau, Vice President for Information Technology at Gannett.) “Inadequate mailbox size inconvenienced our associates. Employees wanted modern, integrated collaboration and communication tools they could use on all their PCs and mobile devices. We wanted to help them be more productive. It was time to find a more integrated, cost-effective solution that didn’t involve spending money on servers.” (Kelly Woodward, Director of Technology at WellPoint. ) Windows Phone“We can make changes on the go to spreadsheets and presentations. And the interoperability between desktop and Windows Phone is seamless. “ (Mike Blake Global CIO, Hyatt Hotels)“Sharpening our organization, creating transparency, and improving access to our intellectual assets [people] could only increase our flexibility and responsiveness. “ (Armand Rabinowitz, Director of IT Innovation, Hyatt)Big Data“Before, it could take as long as two weeks to manually pull data from all 35 local databases, import it into another database, and then run queries against it,” says Pinniger. “And if, after that process, the business wanted to slice that data slightly differently, we would have had to start over. Now, with the SQL Server 2012 data warehouse and xVelocity, that two-week process has been reduced to about an hour’s work, which the business users can perform themselves.” (Todd Pinniger,Senior Manager of Architecture and Product Development,Recall)“We’re very excited about working with Microsoft to develop solutions based on technologies like SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel and Hadoop so that we can continue to deliver unique services that transform what is possible with big data.” (David Mariani,Vice President of Engineering,Klout)Dynamics“With Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, we gained a global account management solution that requires no additional funds for administration.” “What’s more, in the hosted scenario, Microsoft automatically takes care of all solution updates and ensures the integrity of application and data.” (Natalie Henderson, Information Technology and Services Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance at Ball Corporation)“We looked at cost, ease of programming, and ease of use, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM was the winner in all those categories,” she says. “We also felt that, because the solution worked through the Microsoft Office interface, it would provide a familiar user experience, especially for our sales and marketing staff who practically live in email, and really help us get the levels of adoption that we needed.” (Vicki Burton, Director of CRM for CSX Transportation)“Before Microsoft Dynamics CRM, people had to go to multiple systems to get the information they needed. Now, they just go to one. That translates into a big productivity savings across the company.” (Vicki Burton, Director of CRM for CSX Transportation)
  18. Timing: 1 minuteKey Points:There are a number of ways that the new era of productivity can enable you to go paperless in your office.Speaker Notes:As you think about how you will embrace the new era of productivity, think about how technology can help you go paperless. Today’s digital workstyle can help you lower costs and improve efficiencies, drive innovation, and grow your business—and the latest technology from Microsoft can help you meet today’s changing user expectations. Here are eight ways that the new era of productivity can enable your business to go paperless: Office is now set to save to the cloud by default making it easier than ever to store data digitally.New touch and pen-enabled devices and displays enable direct manipulation of text, slides, and other objects through gestures and touch.Windows 8 can provide your users with a common experience across PCs, laptops, and tablets—and it works just like Windows Phone.New large-format touch screens along with Windows 8 can provide an immersive experience that helps uncover new insights and explore data easier and faster.Draw, type, click, or swipe—OneNote has been reimagined for Windows 8. Your notes are saved, searchable, and synced to OneNote apps on your other devices. Using Lync and/or Skype for audio/video conferencing also enables application and presentation sharing without paper. An amazing selection of new mobile devices are now available for Windows 8, including highly-mobile tablets and smartphones that meet enterprise security requirements. And these devices also run the new Office, making it easy to quickly share your data without printing.Transition: I know we’ve shared a lot of ideas in our session today. We look forward to engaging with you in a conversation on how to best take advantage of the new era of productivity in YOUR business.
