Subject: Wide disapproval of Minden’s pointe shoes
As you know, Minden’s pointe shoes have circulated throughout the dance company. In regards to
this new transition, the dancers have responded negatively and wish to revert back to the original
shoes. Understand that the appreciation from the dancers does not go unnoticed; the concern with
comfort is greatly desired and necessary.
The statements listed below are a few responses from dancers commenting on the new shoes.
Lydia Petrovna states she likes breaking in the old traditional satin models.
Gillian Parker insists she would rather numb her feet in icy water, dance through “zingers”
of toe pain, and make frequent visits to the physical therapist than wear Minden’s shoes after
a brief trial. She also states, “I’m totally settled into what I’m doing. I prefer the old way of
breaking shoes in.”
Katrina Washington exclaims, “They’re terrible!”
The verdict: The new shoes are too stiff and many have reported feet bleeding after wearing
Minden’s shoes.
Although the cost efficiency of these shoes is unquestionably unbeatable, precision and mobility is of
great importance to the dancers of this company. Having witnessed the pessimistic tone of the dance
company, my recommendation is for the removal of these shoes. This is why the immediate action of
refraining purchase of Minden’s shoes is vital.
