The document discusses a study conducted to improve user engagement with the Mingana Special Collections through a touchtable prototype. The collection contains over 300 Middle Eastern manuscripts of which 71 have been digitized resulting in 13,000 images. The study aimed to learn how low-level gestures, usability, and learnability of a touchtable interface could support higher-level user engagement including user generated content and collaboration.
