Views on the CMMI Continuous Representation
• Knowledge Repository
– Best practices, assembled by experts
– Clearly organised in groups and Process Areas
– Cross links between Process Areas
• Tool Box
– To help organisations to improve, where needed
– Bunch of Process Areas, use only what is needed
– Assess how you want (global and quick, or detailed)

Pros/Cons of CMMI Continuous Representation
• Advantages:
– Enforces to choose Process Areas, preferably based on
business benefit or main organisation risks
– Possible to set/measure capability goals per Process Area
– Flexible, only assess what may need to be improved, and
where there are possibilities to improve
• Disadvantages:
– More complex, only usable by more mature organisations
– Not assessing certain Process Areas gives a risk that weaknesses
are not found. Requires careful selection of Process Areas!
