Boots Under the Bed!
Here in the Great Northwest we live in earthquake coun-
try. September is National Preparedness Month and the Belle-
vue Office of Emergency Management is urging you to do
something simple to prepare for a possible earthquake. Keep a
pair of boots under your bed.
One result of the earthquake can be violent shaking that
can cause glass windows to shatter. If the earthquake causes a
power outage and occurs at night, you will need to have your
safety equipment close by. To keep yourself and members of
your family safe from glass and debris, keep a pair of boots or
sturdy shoes under the bed.
Other items to have under the bed with your boots:
Seasonal clothing
Work gloves
Flashlight with batteries
Radio with batteries
First aid kit
